METHOD FOR MAINTAINING ACCURATE AND PRECISE SURFACE WASTING FLOW CONDITIONS USING AN AUTOMATED OVERFLOW WEIR
20230257289 · 2023-08-17 ·

A method for the treatment of municipal wastewater by an activated sludge process that uses an overflow weir to extract waste flows from the surface of aeration basins, which is especially useful for continuous-flow treatment systems. A downward opening overflow weir is precisely controlled to remove a surface wasting flow from the aeration basin with the weir automatically moved up and down to accurately and precisely maintain a desired depth of flow over the weir, preferably with a microprocessor-based controller executing a control algorithm based on variable inputs to provides for accurate and precise control of the depth of surface wasting flow over the weir, without excessive oscillation of the overflow weir’s movement and the resultant excessive oscillation in the depth of flow over the weir.

STORING COLD ENERGY AND FREEZE DESALINATION OF SALT WATER

For storing supercooled water, a method cools a water flow with a specified mass flow rate to a specified temperature to form a supercooled water flow. The method conducts the supercooled water flow through a flow pipe with a specified pipe impedance to an ice tank. The method stores the supercooled water flow as ice in the ice tank.

DEDEKIND CONE VALVE AND AIR INFILTRATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HYDROELECTRIC PLANTS
20220025599 · 2022-01-27 ·

An air infiltration system for a hydroelectric plant includes a spillway gate and a linearized cone valve coupled to the spillway gate, the linearized cone valve having a pivotable plate assembly. The spillway gate may be a tainter or Stoney gate and the pivotable plate assembly may have a deflection plate. A method of infiltrating air in water released from an impoundment may include: lifting a spillway gate from a resting position proximate a bottom of a spillway; and pivoting a deflection plate coupled to the gate proximate the bottom of the spillway; wherein water flows through an opening disposed between the deflection plate and the gate and is sprayed into an atmosphere to be oxygenated.
