Techniques for marking a substrate using a physical vapor deposition material
Techniques, processes and structures are disclosed for providing markings on products, such as electronic devices. For example, the markings can be formed using physical vapor deposition (PVD) processes to deposit a layer of material. The markings or labels may be textual and/or graphic. The markings are deposited on a compliant layer that is disposed on a surface to be marked. The compliant layer is arranged to isolate the surface to be marked from the layer of material deposited using the PVD process.

A glass article includes a central layer including a first crystalline phase having a first coefficient of thermal expansion and a surface layer surrounding an entirety of the central layer and including a second crystalline phase having a second coefficient of thermal expansion smaller than the first coefficient of thermal expansion. Accordingly, the strength of the glass article may be improved.

The TGV may further comprise a barrier layer disposed over the metal plating layer, and a metallization layer disposed over the barrier layer. The metallization layer may be electrically coupled to the metal plating layer through the barrier layer. The barrier layer may comprise a metal-nitride film disposed on the metal plating layer that is electrically coupled to the metallization layer. The barrier layer may comprise a metal film disposed over the metal plating layer and over a portion of glass surrounding the TGV, and an electrically-insulating film disposed upon the metal film, the electrically-insulating film completely overlapping the metal plating layer and partially overlapping the metal film.

A material includes a glass sheet, one of the faces of which includes a first zone and a second zone, only the first zone being coated with a layer of opaque mineral paint obtained from a water-based paint composition including pigments and an aqueous solution of alkaline silicate, the layer of mineral paint and the second zone of the glass sheet being coated with a thin layer stack including at least one electrically conductive thin layer.
Scratch-resistant laminates with retained optical properties
One or more aspects of the disclosure pertain to an article including an optical film structure disposed on an inorganic oxide substrate, which may include a strengthened or non-strengthened substrate that may be amorphous or crystalline, such that the article exhibits scratch resistance and retains the same or improved optical properties as the inorganic oxide substrate, without the optical film structure disposed thereon. In one or more embodiments, the article exhibits an average transmittance of 85% or more, over the visible spectrum (e.g., 380 nm-780 nm). Embodiments of the optical film structure include aluminum-containing oxides, aluminum-containing oxy-nitrides, aluminum-containing nitrides (e.g., AlN) and combinations thereof. The optical film structures disclosed herein also include a transparent dielectric including oxides such as silicon oxide, germanium oxide, aluminum oxide and a combination thereof. Methods of forming such articles are also provided.
