Glass articles having films with moderate adhesion and retained strength
One or more aspects of the disclosure pertain to an article including a film disposed on a glass substrate, which may be strengthened, where the interface between the film and the glass substrate is modified, such that the article has an improved average flexural strength, and the film retains key functional properties for its application. Some key functional properties of the film include optical, electrical and/or mechanical properties. In one or more embodiments, the interface exhibits an effective adhesion energy of about less than about 4 J/m.sup.2. In some embodiments, the interface is modified by the inclusion of a crack mitigating layer containing an inorganic material between the glass substrate and the film.
Methods for printing on glass
A method for printing ink on a substrate comprising the steps of coating a glass substrate with an adhesion promoter, depositing one or more layers of ink on the coated substrate, and laminating the imaged substrate. The substrate can be a glass substrate, and the adhesion promoter can include a silane material, powder coating, organophosphate primer suspended in isopropanol.
Antifouling composition, treatment device, treatment method, and treated article
A surface-treating agent including a fluorine-containing compound having a carbon-carbon unsaturated bond at its molecular terminal as a group of —Y-A wherein Y is a single bond, an oxygen atom or a divalent organic group, and A is —CH═CH.sub.2 or —C≡CH, which is able to form a layer having higher alkaline resistance.

Optical member, image pickup apparatus, and method for manufacturing optical member
An optical member including a porous glass layer on a base member is provided, wherein the reflectance is reduced and a ripple is suppressed. The optical member is provided with a base member and a glass layer holding a transparent material in the inside of a porous structure disposed on the base member, wherein in the thickness direction of the glass layer, the porosity in the base member side with respect to the center line of the glass layer in the thickness direction is smaller than the porosity in the side opposite to the base member with respect to the center line of the glass layer in the thickness direction.
A Method for Preparing Efficient and Scalable Self-Cleaning Coating
A method for preparation of a self-cleaning coating solution is provided. The method comprises mixing an aluminium compound with a solution of an ethanol compound to form a solution. Further, the formed solution is subjected to a first magnetic stirring. After the first magnetic stirring a first transparent solution is formed. Further, a stabilizing agent is added to the first transparent solution of the aluminium compound and the ethanol compound. Subsequent to adding the stabilizing agent a translucent solution is formed. Finally, the formed translucent solution is subjected to a second magnetic stirring for forming a homogeneous second transparent solution. The formed second transparent solution is a coating solution
2D & 3D RF Lumped Element Devices for RF System in a Package Photoactive Glass Substrates
The present invention includes a method for creating a system-in-package in or on photodefinable glass including: providing a photodefinable glass substrate; masking a design layout comprising one or more structures to form one or more integrated lumped element devices as the system-in-package on or in a photodefinable glass substrate; transforming at least a portion of the photodefinable glass substrate to form a glass-crystalline substrate; etching the glass-crystalline substrate to form one or more channels in the glass-crystalline substrate; depositing, growing, or selectively etching a seed layer on a surface of the glass-crystalline substrate to enable electroplating of copper; and electroplating the copper to fill the one or more channels and to deposit copper on the surface of the photodefinable glass to form the one or more integrated lumped element devices.
Manufacturing Method of a Channel Type Planar Waveguide Amplifier and a Channel Type Planar Waveguide Amplifier Thereof
A manufacturing method of a channel type planar waveguide amplifier and a channel type planar waveguide amplifier. The method is to pattern the channel structures on the surface of the optical substrate, and then seal them together with rare earth doped chalcogenide glass into the quartz tube, and finally the channel-type waveguide structure is directly created via the melt-quenching method to achieve high quality planar waveguide amplifier. Excellent side wall roughness can be assured since the present invention does not have any direct etching of rare earth ions. Chemical composition and the activity of the rare earth ions can be maintained since the whole process is not involved in any decomposition of the glass into atoms, ions or clusters as that occurs during the fabrication process of the films deposited by the traditional methods like thermal evaporation and magnetron sputtering.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS ARTICLE AND METHOD FOR HEATING THIN SHEET GLASS
A method for manufacturing a glass article includes a heating step that heats a heating object made of glass. The heating step includes heating the heating object by converting, by a converter arranged between the heating object and a radiant heat source that radiates infrared light, a spectrum of the infrared light radiated from the radiant heat source and causing the heating object to absorb the infrared light radiated from the converter. The converter includes: an infrared light absorber that generates heat by absorbing the infrared light radiated from the radiant heat source; and an infrared light radiator made of a silicon-containing material. The infrared light radiator is heated through thermal conduction from the infrared light absorber. At least part of a surface of the converter facing the heating object includes at least part of a surface of the infrared light radiator.
Spill containing refrigerator shelf assembly
The specification discloses a method for containing spills on shelving and the like, and the resulting support members made in accordance with the method, by providing the generally flat top surface of a support with a hydrophobic surface which is arranged in a spill containment pattern and which is generally in the plane of the top surface of the support. The majority of the top surface of the support consists of one or more spill containment areas which are of a non-hydrophobic nature and which are bounded by the hydrophobic surfaces, such that spills on the shelving collect in the non-hydrophobic spill containment area or areas and are prevented from spreading by the hydrophobic surfaces.
