GYPSUM WALLBOARD AND RELATED METHODS AND SLURRIES
Disclosed is a gypsum board comprising a set gypsum core disposed between two cover sheets. The set gypsum core is formed from a slurry comprising stucco, water, and at least one pregelatinized starch having a viscosity of from about 20 cP to about 300 cP as measured according to the VMA method described herein. The starch is present in an amount of greater than 10% by weight of the stucco. In preferred embodiments, the board has good strength properties even at lower densities, such as about 31 pcf or less. Also disclosed are a related method of making a gypsum wallboard and a slurry.
COMPOSITIONS, METHODS, AND SYSTEMS RELATED TO AGGREGATES
Provided herein are compositions, methods, and systems related to aggregates, such as e.g., lightweight aggregates, formed from the reactive vaterite cement compositions.
GYPSUM SLURRIES WITH LINEAR POLYCARBOXYLATE DISPERSANTS
A gypsum slurry includes water, a hydraulic component including calcium sulfate hemihydrate and a linear polycarboxylate dispersant. The linear polycarboxylate anionic dispersant includes a first monomeric repeating unit and a second monomeric repeating unit. The first repeating unit of the linear polycarboxylate dispersant is an olefinic unsaturated carboxylic acid repeating unit or salt thereof. The second repeating unit of the linear polycarboxylate dispersant is a vinyl sulfonate. The slurry can be made into a gypsum panel. Methods of making gypsum slurry and a gypsum panel are also disclosed.
Anti-filming surface-active agent
The invention relates to an anti-filming surface-active admixture for hydraulic binders, including at least one fatty alcohol and at least one oil, to the method for preparing same, and to a method for preparing a hydraulic binder composition suitable for the manufacture of screeds or concretes, comprising the step of adding, to the hydraulic binder composition, the admixture according to the invention in a metered amount of 0.1 to 5 wt % with respect to the weight of the hydraulic binder.
Ceramic Matrix Compositions and Uses Thereof
The present specification discloses ceramic matrix compositions, methods of making such ceramic matrix compositions and methods and uses for such ceramic matrix compositions.

High viscosity crosslinked ethoxy-starch
Described herein is an ethoxylated starch crosslinked with a cross linking agent having surprisingly high viscosity in water. The ethoxylated crosslinked starch described has a degree of ethoxy substitution from 1% to 3% and the crosslinking agent is from 0.02% to 0.05% of the weight of starch. Within this narrow range of values, a 7% wt/wt aqueous solution of the crosslinked ethoxylated starch exhibits a viscosity of at least 1600 cps at 95 ° C. This ethoxylated crosslinked starch is particularly useful in the formation of ceiling tiles with stucco, borax and steel wool, and should be useful in enhancing the viscosity of hydraulic fracturing fluids.
