Lightweight wall repair compounds
Herein are disclosed wall repair compounds comprising at least one or more polymeric binder latex emulsions, one or more inorganic fillers, and comprising an amount of organic polymeric thickener that is less than about 0.1 percent by weight based on the total weight of the wall repair compound. In certain embodiments, the wall repair compound comprises an inorganic filler system selected such that such that synthetic inorganic fillers comprise essentially 100 percent of the inorganic filler used. In certain embodiments, the wall repair compound comprises one or more glycol ether smoothing agents.
GEOPOLYMER COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR MAKING SAME
Geopolymer compositions utilizing fly ash and an inorganic mineral including alkaline earth metal oxide as cementitious reactive components. The inorganic mineral includes alkaline earth metal oxide preferably calcium oxide (also known as lime or quicklime) or magnesium oxide, or combinations thereof. The cementitious reactive powder may also optionally include one or more aluminous cements and one or more source of calcium sulfates. The cementitious reactive powders are activated with an alkali metal chemical activator selected from at least one member of the group consisting of an alkali metal salt and an alkali metal base. The inorganic minerals including alkaline earth metal oxide preferred in this invention have an alkaline earth metal oxide content preferably greater than 50 wt %, more preferably greater than 60 wt %, even more preferably greater than 70 wt %, and most preferably greater than 80 wt %, for example greater than 90 wt %. Methods for making the compositions are also disclosed.
Latex-Based Formulations for Coating and Sculpting Applications
Latex-based formulations for coating and sculpting applications may provide blending a wet mixture with a dry mixture or blending a wet composition with a dry powder. The formulation may then be applied to a surface. In some embodiments, after the formulation is applied to a surface, the formulation may be set to the surface by covering the formulation applied to the surface with a material and/or the formulation may be self-setting on the surface. The formulation may fill gaps in the surface, thereby reducing cracks and shrinkage of the surface. The formulation may be applied to surfaces in a plurality of applications that may include, but are not limited to, sculpting, molding, and cosmetic repairs.
METHOD OF COATING AN ARTICLE, PASTE AND PLUG FOR PREVENTING HOLE BLOCKAGE DURING COATING
A method includes masking at least one hole of an article with a paste, wherein the hole opens onto a surface of the article, applying a coating to the surface of the article, and removing the paste including contacting the paste with water, leaving at least one open hole in the surface of the coated article. The paste includes about 40-80 wt % of a filler material, about 0.5-20 wt % of an inorganic binder, about 0.5-15 wt % of a polyhydroxy compound and about 5-25 wt % of water. The filler material includes a first material which includes alkali metal doped alumina, zirconium oxide, titanium oxide, silicon dioxide, or a combination thereof and a second material which includes a silicate. A weight ratio between the first and second materials is in a range of about 1-10.
METHOD OF FORMING A SAND CONTROL DEVICE FROM A CURABLE INORGANIC MIXTURE INFUSED WITH DEGRADABLE MATERIAL AND METHOD OF PRODUCING FORMATION FLUIDS THROUGH A SAND CONTROL DEVICE FORMED FROM A CURABLE INORGANIC MIXTURE INFUSED WITH DEGRADABLE MATERIAL
A method of excluding particles entrained in formation fluids includes introducing a tubular into a wellbore, forming a sand control device formed from a curable inorganic cementitious mixture infused with an engineered degradable material about the tubular, introducing an external stimulus onto the sand control device causing the degradable material to dissolve, and flowing formation fluids through the sand control device into the tubular.
Method of forming a sand control device from a curable inorganic mixture infused with degradable material and method of producing formation fluids through a sand control device formed from a curable inorganic mixture infused with degradable material
A method of forming a sand control device comprising: infusing a curable inorganic mixture with a degradable material configured to disintegrate upon exposure to an external stimuli; forming the curable inorganic mixture infused with the degradable material about a tubular; and curing the curable inorganic mixture infused with the degradable material.
PRODUCTION METHOD OF READY INJECTION MATERIAL INCLUDING NANO HYDRAULIC LIME
Clean version of the Abstract A production method of ready injection material aims at developing natural hydraulic lime at nano-size by using a single raw material. The production method includes: selecting marl, comprising at least 70% CaCO.sub.3, as the raw material, grinding the marl to have particle size lower than 400 lam, calcining the marl at a temperature between 1000-1200 C., re-grinding the marl after the calcination process, reducing a d.sub.90 particle size of calcined marl to between 200-700 nm after the grinding process, applying a dry mixing process to the material having a reduced particle size, adding water to the material after dry mixing and applying mechanical mixing process during duration between 3-6 minutes at a revolution between 800-1000 rpm, adding super-fluidizing chemical additive to the obtained material, and mixing the material for duration between 3-6 minutes by using ultrasonic homogenizer and mechanic mixing.
LOW-DENSITY HIGH-STRENGTH CONCRETE AND RELATED METHODS
A low-density, high-strength concrete composition that is lightweight and self-compacting or non-self-compacting, with a low weight-fraction of aggregate to total dry raw materials, and a highly-homogenous distribution of a non-absorptive and closed-cell lightweight aggregate such as glass microspheres or copolymer polymer beads or a combination thereof, and the steps of providing the composition or components. Lightweight concretes formed therefrom have low density, high strength-to-weight ratios, and high R-value. The concrete has strength similar to that ordinarily found in structural lightweight concrete but at a lower density, such as an oven-dried density as low as 40 lbs./cu.ft. Such strength-to-density ratios range approximately from above 30 cu.ft/sq.in. to above 110 cu.ft/sq.in., with a 28-day compressive strength ranging from about 3400 to 8000 psi.
