TRANSFER LINE
A transfer line between the outlet of a steam cracker and the inlet for the quench system has metallic or ceramic inserts having a pore size from about 0.001 to about 0.5 microns inside the line forming a gas tight barrier with the inner surface of the line and having a vent for the resulting gas tight pocket are used to separate H.sub.2, CH.sub.4, CO and CO.sub.2 from cracked gases reducing the load on the down-stream separation train of the steam cracker.

PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER FOR DEHYDROGENATION PROCESS WITH REDUCED HOUDRY LUMPS
Houdry lumps can be reduced by controlling the reactors in a fixed bed dehydrogenation process for producing olefins according to defined rules. A programmable logic controller can apply the rules to the operation of the dehydrogenation unit and control the operation of individual reactors according to the rules. By doing so, the performance of dehydrogenation units can be improved without adding any heat generating inerts, such as CuO-α alumina For example, the dehydrogenation units can be operated according to combinatorics in the programmable logic controller such that the farthest two reactors in the dehydrogenation unit never operate in parallel in the dehydrogenation or air regeneration steps.

Method and system for generating a mechanical output and producing reaction products in a parallel manner
A process for the combined generation of mechanical power and manufacture of hydrocarbons is proposed, wherein in order to generate the mechanical power at least one internal combustion engine (1) is fired up, thereby producing a combustion exhaust gas (c), and in order to produce the hydrocarbons at least one reactor (2) is heated using a fuel (e) and a combustion support gas (d). The invention provides that at least a proportion of the combustion support gas (d) is heated by indirect heat exchange with at least a proportion of the combustion exhaust gas (c) from the internal combustion engine (1). The present invention also relates to a corresponding installation (100, 200).

Ethylene-to-liquids systems and methods
Integrated systems are provided for the production of higher hydrocarbon compositions, for example liquid hydrocarbon compositions, from methane using an oxidative coupling of methane system to convert methane to ethylene, followed by conversion of ethylene to selectable higher hydrocarbon products. Integrated systems and processes are provided that process methane through to these higher hydrocarbon products.

Ethylbenzene dehydrogenation plant for producing styrene and relative process
An ethylbenzene dehydrogenation plant for producing styrene which comprises a reaction section in which one or more adiabatic reaction apparatuses are positioned in series, and a steam circuit in which there is at least one first steam heat exchange apparatus; said plant being characterized in that it comprises heating equipment in which there is a heating circuit by means of recirculation of the fumes formed during dehydrogenation processes of ethylbenzene to give styrene, wherein said heating equipment comprises the following apparatuses in fluid communication with each other by means of said heating circuit: one or more ultra-heating apparatuses, one or more combustion devices in which at least one steam diffuser, one burner and at least one mixing apparatus are inserted, one or more ventilation device(s).
Method of transforming biomass into hydrocarbon
A method is provided to transform biomass. Non-food biomass is preprocessed. Then, fermentation is processed to generate ethanol. Ethanol is dehydrated through a catalyst to generate ethylene. After the dehydration, oligomerization is processed with a catalyst to transform ethylene into olefins having 6˜20 carbon atoms (C.sub.6˜C.sub.20). The olefins are hydrotreated into alkanes. Thus, C.sub.6˜C.sub.20 hydrocarbons having long carbon chains are formed. The hydrocarbons having 6˜10 carbon atoms can be used as gasoline; those having 8˜16 carbon atoms, jet fuel; and those having 16˜20 carbon atoms, diesel. On generating ethanol, byproducts of lignin may be generated. The byproducts can be processed through depolymerization/deoxygenation to generate aromatic hydrocarbons or can be gasified to generate methanol or dimethyl ether. By further processing dehydration, aromatic hydrocarbons are generated to be mixed into gasoline, jet fuel or diesel. Or, the lignin byproducts are gasified to generate syngas.
