The present invention provide for preparing a formylalkenyl alkoxymethyl ether compound of the following general formula (2): R.sup.3CH.sub.2OCH.sub.2O(CH.sub.2).sub.aCH═CHCHO (2), wherein R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom, an n-alkyl group having 1 to 9 carbon atoms, or a phenyl group; and “a” represents an integer of 1 to 10, the process comprising: hydrolyzing a dialkoxyalkenyl alkoxymethyl ether compound of the following general formula (1): R.sup.3CH.sub.2OCH.sub.2O(CH.sub.2).sub.aCH═CHCH(OR.sup.1)(OR.sup.2) (1), wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represent, independently of each other, a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may form together a divalent hydrocarbon group, R.sup.1-R.sup.2, having 2 to 10 carbon atoms; and R.sup.3 and “a” are as defined above, in the presence of an acid while removing an alcohol compound thus generated to form the formylalkenyl alkoxymethyl ether compound (2).

COMPOUNDS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR NEMATODE TREATMENT

Disclosed herein are compounds and compositions for nematode treatment. In particular, disclosed are compounds of formula (I), a method of treating a plant or a growing media for a nematode with compounds of formula (II), compositions, and methods of use.

ANDROGEN RECEPTOR MODULATORS AND METHODS FOR THEIR USE

Compounds having a structure of formula (I), (I-A), (Ia)-(Ie), (A)-(E), and (II) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, tautomer or stereoisomer thereof are provided. Uses of such compounds for modulating androgen receptor activity, imaging diagnostics in cancer and therapeutics, and methods for treatment of disorders including prostate cancer are also provided.

FE/CU-MEDIATED KETONE SYNTHESIS

Provided herein are methods for preparing ketone-containing organic molecules. The methods are based on novel iron/copper-mediated (“Fe/Cu-mediated”) coupling reactions. The Fe/Cu-mediated coupling reaction can be used in the preparation of complex molecules, such as halichondrins and analogs thereof. In particular, the Fe/Cu-mediated ketolization reactions described herein are useful in the preparation of intermediates en route to halichondrins.

COMPOUNDS AND MATRICES FOR USE IN BONE GROWTH AND REPAIR

Compositions of small molecules, matrices, and isolated cells including methods of preparation, and methods for differentiation, trans-differentiation, and proliferation of animal cells into the osteoblast cell lineage were described. Examples of osteogenic materials that were administered to cells or co-cultured with cells are represented by compounds of Formula II, IV, and VI independently or preferably in combination with a matrix to afford bone cells. Small molecule-stimulated cells were also combined with a matrix, placed with a cellular adhesive or material carrier and implanted to a site in an animal for bone repair. Matrix pretreated with compounds of Formula II, IV, and VI were also used to cause cells to migrate to the matrix that is of use for therapeutic purposes.
