SCALABLE PRODUCTION OF PROCESSABLE DRIED NANOMATERIALS AND SUPERHYDROPHOBIC SURFACES FROM CELLULOSE NANOMATERIALS
The present disclosure generally relates to a process for manufacturing a processable dried cellulose nanomaterial using a co-solvent of tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), of which unique physical/chemical properties enable facile modification/derivatization. This present disclosure also relates to materials and process of generating of superhydrophobic surface coating using hydrophobic carboxylic acid modified cellulose nanofibers. Both the processes and the products thereof are within the scope of this disclosure.

SURFACE-HYDROPHOBICIZED CELLULOSE NANOFIBERS FOR OILY THICKENER, OILY THICKENER COMPOSITION CONTAINING SAME, COSMETICS AND HYDROPHOBICIZED CELLULOSE NANOFIBER COMPLEX FOR OILY THICKENER CONTAINING SAME, OILY THICKENER COMPOSITION CONTAINING SAME, AND COSMETICS CONTAINING SAME
[Problem] To provide an oil thickener which has high viscosity increasing effect on an oily ingredient such as silicone oil, a non-polar organic compound, a low-polarity organic compound or the like and which has good handlability
[Means to Solve the Problem] Surface-hydrophobized cellulose nanofibers for an oil thickener which are cellulose nanofibers having an average thickness of 3 to 200 nm and an average length of 0.1 μm or larger, and a 1 wt. % aqueous dispersion of which has a viscosity of 700 to 2100 mPa.Math.s, and hydroxyl groups in cellobiose units of which are substituted by vinyl esters and/or organic acid vinyl esters in a substitution degree of 0.2 to 0.8.
Surface-Modified and Dried Microfibrillated Cellulose Reinforced Thermoplastic Biocomposites
A process for producing dried, vinyl carboxylate surface-modified microfibrillated cellulose having improved mechanical properties and a microfibril structure and a process for producing a vinyl carboxylate, surface-modified microfibrillated cellulose—thermoplastic polyester or thermoplastic polyolefin composite material having improved mechanical strength properties utilizing dried, vinyl carboxylate surface-modified microfibrillated cellulose.
ECO-FRIENDLY SORBENT MATERIAL FOR REMOVING OIL AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
Disclosed are a sorbent produced by recycling waste paper, which is an eco-friendly recycling paper resource, to adsorb and remove a marine spilled oil and other types of oil and a method of producing the same. The oil sorbent is produced by hydrophobizing a biomass material such as waste paper using a gas-grafting method. Compared to the oil sorbent of the prior art formed of synthetic resin, it is possible to provide excellent oil adsorption selectivity, a high oil adsorption rate, and a low water absorption rate. Therefore, an incineration process for processing the waste oil sorbent after use is easy advantageously. The oil sorbent generates less harmful substances during combustion because the eco-friendly material is used. Since a biomass material is hydrophobized using vegetable fatty acids, decomposition is performed fast within a short time in a landfill process, and there is no risk of environmental pollution.

Resin composition and resin molded body
A resin composition containing a cellulose acylate (A) having, in a side chain, a group having a hydrocarbon chain with 5 or more carbon atoms; a polyester resin (B); and an ester compound (C) having a molecular weight of about 250 or more and about 2000 or less. The mass ratio ((B)/(A)) of the polyester resin (B) to the cellulose acylate (A) is about 0.05 or more and about 0.5 or less. The mass ratio ((C)/(A)) of the ester compound (C) to the cellulose acylate (A) is about 0.02 or more and about 0.15 or less.

Functionalised Compounds
A substantially insoluble compound having a polysaccharide backbone which is derivatised at one or more of its hydroxyl groups with a ligand (L) bound to the sugar moiety by a sulphur atom which may be tailored according to a wide range of applications. The compound is useful as a catalyst and in removal of contaminants from a feed containing particularly metal ions.
