Composition for control and inhibition of polymerization of monomers, and method of use and preparation thereof
The present invention relates to an additive composition for controlling and inhibiting polymerization of monomers, wherein the composition comprises a combination of (a) a phenol compound comprising catechol compound with (b1) an aliphatic tertiary amine, (b2) oxide treated derivative of the aliphatic tertiary amine, or (b2) a mixture thereof, wherein the aliphatic tertiary amine contains one or more hydroxyl groups in the alkyl chain of the aliphatic tertiary amine. In one embodiment, the present invention also relates to a method for controlling and inhibiting polymerization of monomers by employing the additive composition of the present invention. In another embodiment, the present invention also relates to a method of using the additive composition of the present invention for controlling and inhibiting polymerization of monomers. In another embodiment, the present invention also relates to methods for controlling and inhibiting polymerization of monomers in a primary fractionator (or an ethylene plant), and for operating a primary fractionator, and for reducing fouling and polymer deposits in a primary fractionator, and to extend a run-length of a primary fractionator or of an ethylene plant.
Systems and Methods for Mitigating Polymer Fouling
Techniques and systems for reducing fouling in a polymerization system are described. The polymerization system includes a reactor coupled to a recycle system. The recycle system includes at least one fouling-susceptible unit. The technique includes inducing polymerization of a reactant, for example, at least one olefin monomer reactant, with a catalyst in the reactor. The technique may further include circulating a fluidizing stream through the reactor and the at least one fouling-susceptible unit. The fluidizing stream may include entrained particles tending to foul the at least one fouling-susceptible unit. The technique can further include contacting the fluidizing stream with a catalyst poison at at least one location upstream of the at least one fouling-susceptible unit in the recycle system.
Polymerization process in the presence of an antistatic composition
A process for the preparation of polyolefins by polymerizing olefins at temperatures of from 20 to 200° C. and pressures of from 0.1 to 20 MPa in the presence of a polymerization catalyst and an antistatically acting composition in a polymerization reactor, wherein the antistatically acting composition is a mixture comprising an oil-soluble surfactant and water and the use of an antistatically acting composition comprising an oil-soluble surfactant and water as antistatic agent for the polymerization of olefins at temperatures of from 20 to 200° C. and pressures of from 0.1 to 20 MPa in the presence of a polymerization catalyst.
Polymerization process in the presence of an antistatic composition
A process for the preparation of polyolefins by polymerizing olefins at temperatures of from 20 to 200° C. and pressures of from 0.1 to 20 MPa in the presence of a polymerization catalyst and an antistatically acting composition in a polymerization reactor, wherein the antistatically acting composition is a mixture comprising an oil-soluble surfactant and water and the use of an antistatically acting composition comprising an oil-soluble surfactant and water as antistatic agent for the polymerization of olefins at temperatures of from 20 to 200° C. and pressures of from 0.1 to 20 MPa in the presence of a polymerization catalyst.
Feeding polymerization additives to polymerization processes
Processes for making and using a viscosified liquid slurry polymerization additive are disclosed herein. The process for making a viscosified liquid slurry polymerization additive comprises contacting a polymerization additive with a liquid to form a liquid slurry polymerization additive, and shearing the liquid slurry polymerization additive to increase its viscosity and thus form the viscosified liquid slurry polymerization additive. The process for using a viscosified liquid slurry polymerization additive comprises contacting, under polymerization conditions, in a reactor system: a catalyst system, one or more monomers, and at least one viscosified liquid slurry polymerization additive.
Feeding polymerization additives to polymerization processes
Processes for making and using a viscosified liquid slurry polymerization additive are disclosed herein. The present disclosure provides methods of treating industrial processes with compositions, methods of manufacturing the compositions, and various anti-freezing compositions suitable for use in the industrial processes. The anti-freezing dispersant compositions may include, for example, sulfonated dispersants and winterization solvents. The anti-freezing dispersant compositions may prevent fouling in the industrial processes.

Disclosed is an antistatic agent for a metallocene olefin polymerization process and a polymerization method using the same, by which discontinuity event due to sheeting or drooling occurring in the olefin polymerization process can be effectively reduced, enabling continuous operation for a long time, and the obtained final product can be applied to various applications including food contact use. The present disclosure includes an olefin polymerization method, which comprises forming a mixture in which an antistatic agent containing diglycerol oleate is mixed with a low molecular weight hydrocarbon, supplying the antistatic agent mixture and a metallocene-based catalyst composition comprising a metallocene catalyst and aluminoxane to two or more polymerization reactors, and polymerizing one or more alpha-olefins in the presence of the antistatic agent mixture and catalyst composition.
