PACKAGING SOLUTIONS
A packaging system for the storage of an ophthalmic device is disclosed. The packaging system comprises a sealed container containing one or more unused ophthalmic devices immersed in an aqueous packaging solution comprising one or more hydrophilic polymers or copolymers comprising hydrophilic units and endcapped with a hydrophobic end group and a hydrophilic end group, wherein the solution has an osmolality of at least about 200 mOsm/kg, a pH of about 6 to about 9 and is heat sterilized.
SUBSTRATE FOR TEST USE, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SUBSTRATE FOR TEST USE
Provided are a substrate for test use that is preferable for use in a test such as a culture test, and a method for manufacturing the substrate for test use. The substrate for test use, in which a solution retaining part for retaining water or an aqueous solution, is formed at a surface of a substrate of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The solution retaining part is a concave part having a hydrophilic surface layer. The surface layer has a maximum thickness of 1 m or larger.
Organocopolymer dispersions
Aqueous dispersions of copolymers of ethylenically unsaturated monomers and silicone resins bearing functional groups which are free radically polymerizable are prepared by forming an aqueous miniemulsion of the silicone resin dissolved in an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, the miniemulsion having a D.sub.50 droplet size <350 nm, and polymerizing using a free radical polymerization initiator.

WATER SWELLABLE CROSSLINKED ELASTOMER AND METHOD OF PREPARATION
A water swellable cross-linked elastomer and method of preparation is provided. The elastomer can advantageously be included in skin treatment compositions. Swellable elastomers in accordance with the invention are particularly well suited for inclusion in skin tightening cosmetic products. The elastomers can be formulated to form a film. When applied to skin, an elastomer in accordance with preferred embodiments of the invention can adhere to the skin and shrink as it dries. This can provide a skin tightening, lifting and wrinkle smoothening effect upon drying. This effect can temporarily mask the appearance of wrinkles.
