SALT RESPONSIVE NANOGELS AND NANOPARTICLES
Covalently linked linear polyethylenimine (PEI) clusters are provided that change conformation depending upon changes in counterion concentrations. The structures may be used for the storage, delivery, and/or transport of substances.
CARBON DIOXIDE CAPTURE PROCESS USING HYDROGELS
The present application is directed to processes for removing carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) from low CO.sub.2 concentration gaseous streams. The process comprises contacting the gaseous stream with a hydrogel for absorbing at least some CO.sub.2 from the gaseous stream. The hydrogel comprises a cross-linked hydrophilic polymer comprising a hydrophilic polymer cross-linked with a cross-linking agent. Processes for preparing the hydrogel, types of hydrogels, using the hydrogel to remove CO.sub.2 from gaseous streams, and regenerating the hydrogel to recover absorbed CO.sub.2 from the hydrogel are also disclosed.
Gas barrier polymer and gas barrier laminate using same
A gas barrier polymer is formed by heat-curing a mixture including polycarboxylic acid and a polyamine compound, in which, in an infrared absorption spectrum, when a straight line connecting a measurement point at 1493 cm.sup.−1 and a measurement point at 1780 cm.sup.−1 is set as a baseline, an absorption intensity at 1660 cm.sup.−1 is set as I(1660), and an absorption intensity at 1625 cm.sup.−1 is set as I(1625), R represented by Equation (1) is greater than 1.
R=I(1660)/I(1625)−{−0.65×(total amine/COOH)+0.4225} (1)
Draw solute and water treatment equipment
A draw solute for forward osmosis membrane process, comprising an addition polymer obtained by addition polymerization of an alkylene oxide having 2 to 10 carbon atoms to an amine compound.
Compositions, method of making an article, and articles
Compositions include a compound preparable by reaction of components comprising an optionally crosslinked polyethylenimine and at least one an amine-reactive hydrolyzable organosilane represented by the formula R—Z—SiY.sub.3. R represents an amine-reactive group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms; Z represents a divalent organic group containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms; and each Y independently represents a hydrolyzable group. Methods of using the compositions to make articles, and articles produces thereby are also disclosed. A composition comprising an intimate mixture of a crosslinked polyethylenimine and a polymeric binder material, and a method of making it is also disclosed.
