Quaternary cationic polymers
A cationic polymer salt composition is provided that includes a reaction product derived from reaction of a polyamine or a polyalkyleneimine and a substituted alkyl trialkyl quaternary ammonium salt. Also provided are surfactant compositions. The compositions may also include carriers, such as water, methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, butanol, isobutanol, monoethyleneglycol, an ethyleneglycol monobutyl ether, and hexylene glycol.
Cleavable conjugates of catechol compounds and water-soluble polymers and methods of treatment using the same
Described are conjugates comprising a water-soluble polymer linked to a compound comprising a catechol moiety via a cleavable linkage, wherein the cleavable linkage is formed between the water-soluble polymer and a first phenolic hydroxyl group of the catechol moiety and a second phenolic hydroxyl group of the catechol moiety is linked to a blocking group wherein the rate of hydrolytic release of the compound comprising the catechol moiety is controlled, at least in part, through structure or design of the blocking group on the second phenolic hydroxyl group of the catechol moiety. Therefore, the rate of hydrolytic release of the compound comprising the catechol moiety can be tuned through structural design of the group on the second phenolic hydroxyl group of the catechol moiety. Compounds used in the synthesis of the described conjugates and methods of using the described conjugate and other compounds in the treatment of dopamine-responsive disorders are also described.
FUNCTIONALIZED BILE ACIDS FOR THERAPEUTIC AND MATERIAL APPLICATIONS
The subject disclosure is directed to functionalized bile acids, preparation thereof, and usage thereof for therapeutic and material applications. In one embodiment, a method of generating functionalized bile acid materials can comprise directly activating a carboxylic acid of a bile acid compound using a coupling agent comprising an amide or ester compound, thereby generating an intermediate bile acid derivative material. The method can further comprise attaching a functional group material to the intermediate bile acid derivative material by reacting the functional group material and the intermediate bile acid derivative material, thereby generating a functionalized bile acid material.
BINDERS
The present invention relates to binder compositions with improved amine components, and a method of manufacturing a collection of matter bound by said binder compositions.
POLYMER COMPOSITION
The present invention relates to novel polymer compositions which are obtained by neutralizing a polymer P having at least one functional moiety of the formula (I) bound to at least one of the termini and/or to the backbone of the polymer, with an oligomeric or polymeric amine PA having at least 2 amino groups per oligomer or polymer molecule.
METHOD FOR SEPARATING FINE PARTICLES IN SOIL USING CATIONIC MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES
The present invention relates to a method of separating fine particles in soil using cationic magnetic nanoparticles, and more particularly, to a method of separating fine particles (clay, silt, etc.) that have adsorbed contaminants such as heavy metals or radioactive nuclides in soil using cationic magnetic nanoparticles.
According to the present invention, contaminants such as heavy metals or radioactive nuclides selectively or irreversibly adsorbed to fine particles (clay, silt, etc.) in soil may be economically and efficiently separated. Therefore, the present invention may be effectively used to restore soil in residential areas that are contaminated with radioactive nuclides in serious accidents such as the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster as well as facility sites contaminated with heavy metals or radioactive nuclides.
BINDER
The present disclosure provides for improved binder compositions comprising an amine component, as well as methods for manufacturing articles and collections of matter comprising the disclosed binder compositions.
CROSSLINKED POLY(ALLYLAMINE) POLYMER PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS
Pharmaceutical compositions for and methods of treating an animal, including a human, and methods of preparing such compositions. The pharmaceutical compositions contain crosslinked amine polymers and may be used, for example, to treat diseases or other metabolic conditions in which removal of a target species from the gastrointestinal tract would provide physiological benefits.
CO.SUB.2 .sensor based on carbon nanotube-functional polymer composite films
The present disclosure relates to a novel composite film configured for CO.sub.2 sensing, and the method of making and using the novel composite film. The novel composite film comprises a carbon nanotube film and a CO.sub.2 absorbing layer deposited on the carbon nanotube film, wherein the CO.sub.2 absorbing layer comprises a mixture of a branched polyethylenimine, a polyethylene glycol, and poly[1-(4-vinylbenzyl)-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate] of formula I: ##STR00001## wherein n ranges from 10-300.
