Coated articles demonstrating electromagnetic radiation transparency and method of mitigating contaminant build-up on a substrate
The present invention is directed to coated articles demonstrating a transmission of electromagnetic radiation having a frequency of 22 to 81 GHz in the range of 70% to 100%. The articles comprise substrates coated with curable film-forming compositions comprising a first film-forming polymer prepared from at least one hydrophobic monomer, a second film-forming polymer prepared from at least one hydrophobic monomer, and a curing agent. Upon application of the curable film-forming composition to the substrate to form a coating layer, the first film-forming polymer is distributed throughout the coating layer, and the concentration of the second film-forming polymer is greater at the surface of the coating layer than the concentration of the second film-forming polymer within the bulk of the coating layer. The present invention is also drawn to methods of mitigating contaminant build-up on a substrate using the curable film-forming compositions described above.
Hydrogel electrolyte having multiple crosslinked structures and an energy storage device including such electrolyte
An electrolyte for use in an energy storage device, an energy storage device and a method of forming such electrolyte. The electrolyte includes a polymer matrix of at least two crosslinked structures, including a first polymeric material and a second polymeric material; and an electrolytic solution retained by the polymer matrix; wherein the electrolyte is arranged to physically deform when subjected to an external mechanical load applied to the polymer matrix.
Biologically active polymers prepared via reactive extrusion
Disclosed herein are methods of making active, food-grade packaging resins using a reactive extrusion step that involves reacting a polymeric material with a ligand and one of a cross-linking agent and a radical initiator in an extruder, under temperature and pressure conditions effective to cause covalent binding of the ligand to the polymeric material by a linker that is the reaction product of the cross-linking agent or by direct bond formation between the ligand and the polymeric material, and then extruding the active, food-grade packaging resin. Also disclosed are the active packaging resins obtained from such methods, methods of forming food packaging materials from the active packaging resins, the food packaging materials that contain the active packaging resins, and methods of packaging perishable food in those food packaging materials.
FLAME-RETARDANT POLYMER COMPOSITION
A flame-retardant polymer composition comprises at least one elastomeric polymer that includes at least one monomer incorporated by polymerization. The at least one monomer comprises at least one of C2-C30 alkylenes. The flame-retardant polymer composition further comprises polyarylene sulfide. The polyarylene sulfide is present in a particle form and/or in a fiber form.

COATING SOLUTION AND FLUORORUBBER METAL LAMINATED SHEET USING THE SAME
A coating solution comprising an organic solvent solution containing polyol-crosslinkable fluororubber, a polyol vulcanizing agent, and N-phenyl-3-aminopropyltrialkoxysilane, preferably a coating solution further containing an epoxy resin in addition thereto, and a fluororubber metal laminated sheet formed by applying the above coating solution to a metal sheet, followed by vulcanization. The coating solution can not only impart stability over time to the fluororubber paste, but also improve the interlayer adhesion and abrasion resistance of the fluororubber metal laminated sheet. Therefore, when it is used as a cylinder head gasket, it is possible to cope with the reduction in rigidity due to the increase in combustion pressure of the engine, and with weight saving. As a result, it will greatly contribute to the improvement of fuel efficiency of automobiles.

(1) The number average molecular weight of the copolymer is 5000 to 100000. (2) The aromatic vinyl compound monomer has 8 to 20 carbon atoms, and the content of the unit of the monomer is 0 to 70 mass %. (3) The aromatic polyene is selected from polyenes having 5 to 20 carbon atoms and a plurality of vinyl and/or vinylene groups in the molecule, and the content of the groups is 1.5 to 20 pieces per number average molecular weight. (4) The olefin is selected from olefins having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, and the total monomer units of the olefin, aromatic vinyl compound, and aromatic polyene is 100 mass %.
