20250179298 · 2025-06-05 ·

According to one aspect, an asphalt pellet can include a core including an asphalt binder, and a shell including calcined gypsum. The shell may provide for improved durability and storage as compared to other asphalt pellet shells.

Method of making an asphalt composition containing ester bottoms

This invention involves the addition of ester bottoms to an asphalt paving composition to improve the usable temperature range (UTR). The ester bottoms are a byproduct of refining a feedstock containing all or a portion of vegetable oil or animal fat.

ROOFING MATERIAL AND METHODS FOR MAKING THE SAME

A roofing bitumen composition includes a paving grade bitumen feedstock, a low MW polyolefin, and 9-60% of a material selected from the group of kraft lignin, recycled fibrous material, recovered bitumen from recycled asphalt shingles (RAS), reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), recycled tire rubber (RTR), and combinations thereof. This roofing bitumen composition has a calculated reduction in scope 3 carbon footprint between about 5% and 60%.

CROSSLINKABLE ASPHALT COMPOSITIONS AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND RELATED METHODS
20250236734 · 2025-07-24 ·

Kits for crosslinkable asphalt compositions are provided. A kit comprises a first container and a second container. The first container comprises a first formulation. The first formulation comprises a crosslinker. The second container comprises a second formulation. The second formulation comprises a polyfunctional epoxy-containing compound and an asphalt component. A sufficient amount of the second formulation is configured to be mixed with a sufficient amount of at least the first formulation so as to form a crosslinkable asphalt composition. The crosslinkable asphalt composition, when cured, forms a reaction product comprising a three-dimensional crosslinked polymer network. The asphalt component is within the three-dimensional crosslinked polymer network. Crosslinkable asphalt compositions, and related systems and related methods are also provided.

ANTI-AGING ADDITIVES FOR ASPHALT BINDERS AND ROOFING MATERIALS

An asphalt binder composition for use in asphalt-containing materials that includes at least one of a virgin asphalt binder, an air-blown virgin asphalt binder, or a reclaimed asphalt binder material, and an anti-aging agent that is a reaction product of ingredients including (i) a first material including a compound containing one or more carbonyl groups and (ii) a second material that reacts with the one or more carbonyl groups of the first material and adds hydroxyl groups to the reaction product, where the anti-aging agent has a hydroxyl value of greater than about 25 mg KOH/g.

Modified bitumen comprising a compatibilizer, a compatibilizer and its use in asphalt, roofing or road applications

The present invention relates to an asphalt composition comprising a modified bitumen with a hydroxyl-functionalized polymer configured to create a thermally reversible cross-linking network within the composition, wherein the hydroxyl functionalized polymer is selected from the group comprising: hydroxyl functionalized polyolefin thermoplast, hydroxyl functionalized polyolefin elastomer, hydroxyl functionalized polyolefin plastomer.

SHINGLE COATING COMPOSITION INCLUDING BIOSOURCED SOFTENERS

Various aspects described herein are directed to an asphalt composition comprising about 10 wt. % to about 80 wt. % of a base asphalt, about 1 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of a hardener having an acid value of less than 30 meq KOH, about 1 wt. % to about 20 wt. % of a phenolic lipid-based compatibilizer, and 0 to about 10 wt. % of a wax. The asphalt composition has a penetration value according at 25 C. of no less than 15 dmm and a softening point of at least 93 C. Aspects are also directed to methods of modifying the hardness of an asphalt composition and roofing materials including the asphalt compositions.

Asphalt Rejuvenating Additives Produced From Waste Plastic Pyrolysis Products
20260028466 · 2026-01-29 · ·

An asphalt rejuvenator is prepared from aromatic compounds derived from the heavy distillates of waste plastic pyrolysis. The aromatic compounds are strategically selected based on a comparison of solubility parameters of the aromatic compounds and the bitumen binder of the asphalt. The aromatic compounds can be selected by controlling the distillation of the heavy distillates of the pyrolysis process. Suitable aromatic compounds include alkyl-naphthalene, alkyl-anthracene, alkyl-phenanthrene, phenolic alkyl aromatic compounds, phenolic alkyl polynuclear aromatic compounds, and alkyl polynuclear aromatic compounds.
