RECYCLED ASPHALT COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS THEREOF
A pavement composition includes a recycled hot mix asphalt (HMA) sheet mix composition including more than 50% and up to 100% recycled fines mixed with a rejuvenating agent. The recycled fines of the HMA sheet mix are separated from a reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) composition and substantially all of the recycled fines are capable of passing through a sieve having an opening size of inch (9.5 mm). Pavement systems include an existing pavement layer and a thin-lift overlay made of the recycled HMA sheet mix on the existing pavement layer. Pavement systems also include a three-layer system including a leveling course layer, an interlayer, and a surface course layer in which the leveling course layer and/or the surface course layer include a recycled HMA sheet mix composition.
Void reducing asphalt membrane composition, method and apparatus for asphalt paving applications
A method of sealing pavement joints includes the steps of dispensing a first band of void reducing joint composition on a substrate. Applying a first pass of pavement over at least a portion of the void reducing joint composition. Dispensing a second pass of void reducing joint composition on the substrate. Applying a second pass of pavement of the second band of void reducing joint composition and against an edge of the first pass of pavement.
Coating System For Asphalt And Related Methods
A coating system and related methods for an airfield surface or a roadway is described. The coating system may include a stable cationic emulsion for application to the airfield surface or the roadway. The stable cationic emulsion may include a) an asphalt blend comprising gilsonite, wherein the gilsonite is modified to possess a positive charge, b) one or more polymers, and c) one or more surfactants not including a cationic surfactant. The coating system may also include a fine aggregate material for application to the stable cationic emulsion applied to the airfield surface or the roadway.
ASPHALT COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF USING SAME IN TACK COATS
Provided herein are asphalt compositions comprising asphalt, a carboxylated copolymer, a polyalkyleneimine, and a photoinitiator. The carboxylated copolymer present in the asphalt compositions can be a latex composition derived from a carboxylated styrene-butadiene copolymer. The carboxylated copolymer includes from 0.5% to 25% by weight carboxylic acid monomers. The carboxylated styrene-butadiene polymer and the asphalt can be present in a weight ratio of from 1:99 to 1:10. The polyalkyleneimine present in the asphalt compositions can be in an amount of greater than 0% to up to 10% by weight of the asphalt composition. The photoinitiator can include benzophenone and/or a derivative thereof. Tack coats meeting ASTM-D-977 standard comprising the asphalt compositions disclosed herein are also provided. The tack coat can have a tack-free time of 10 minutes or less. Methods of producing the asphalt compositions and tack coats are also disclosed.
Block Copolymer Composition, Method of Preparing the Same, and Asphalt Composition Including the Same
Provided is a block copolymer composition, and more particularly, a block copolymer composition including a diblock copolymer and a triblock copolymer. The diblock copolymer includes a first block containing a first conjugated diene-based monomer-derived repeating unit and a second block containing a first vinyl aromatic monomer-derived repeating unit, and a functional group derived from a modified initiator represented by the Chemical Formula 1 (see description of the invention) is included at one end of the diblock copolymer. A method of preparing the same, and an asphalt composition including the same, are provided.
REJUVENATING COMPOSITIONS FOR ASPHALT APPLICATIONS & METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Disclosed herein are rejuvenating compositions for asphalt applications. In one aspect, the rejuvenating composition comprises a polymerized oil having a polymeric distribution ranging from about 2 to about 80 wt % oligomer content and Hildebrand solubility ranging from about 6 to about 12. In another aspect, the rejuvenating composition comprises an oil having a Hildebrand solubility ranging from about 6 to about 12 and a flash point ranging from about 100 C. to about 400 C. In yet another aspect, the rejuvenating composition comprises a modified oil having a Hildebrand solubility ranging from about 6 to about 12 and a flash point ranging from about 100 C. to about 400 C.
POLYMERIZED OILS & METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Described herein is a polymerized biorenewable, previously modified, or functionalized oil, comprising a polymeric distribution having about 2 to about 80 wt % oligomer content, a polydispersity index ranging from about 1.30 to about 2.20, and sulfur content ranging from 0.001 wt % to about 8 wt %. Methods of manufacturing the polymerized oil as well as its incorporation into asphalt paving, roofing, and coating applications are also described.

Described herein is a polymerized biorenewable, previously modified, or functionalized oil, comprising a polymeric distribution having about 2 to about 80 wt % oligomer content, a polydispersity index ranging from about 1.30 to about 2.20, and sulfur content ranging from 0.001 wt % to about 8 wt %. Methods of manufacturing the polymerized oil as well as its incorporation into asphalt paving, roofing, and coating applications are also described.
HYBRID COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF ASPHALT AND CONCRETE SURFACEWAYS
A sealant material composition for sealing asphalt includes a non-fiber asphalt emulsion between about 20.0 wt. % and about 60.0 wt. %, carbon black between about 0.5 wt. % and about 5.0 wt. %, an aggregate between about 1.0 wt. % and about 10.0 wt. %, wherein the aggregate is amorphous aluminum silicate, and a hydrophobic additive between about 0.1 wt. % and about 1.0 wt. %.
