Leuco triphenylmethane colorants as bluing agents in laundry care compositions

This application describes laundry care compositions that contain leuco colorants and their use in the laundering of textile articles. These types of colorants are provided in a stable, substantially colorless state and then may be transformed to an intense colored state upon exposure to certain physical or chemical changes such as, for example, exposure to oxygen, ion addition, exposure to light, and the like. The laundry care compositions containing the leuco colorants are designed to enhance the apparent or visually perceived whiteness of, or to impart a desired hue to, textile articles washed or otherwise treated with the laundry care composition.

Transformation of Data to Non-Binary Data For Storage in Non-Volatile Memories

A data storage system and method are provided for storing data in non-volatile memory devices. Binary data is received for storage in a non-volatile memory device. The binary data is converted into non-binary data comprising base-X values, where X is an integer greater than two. The non-binary data is encoded to generate a codeword and the codeword is written to a wordline of the non-volatile memory device.

ASSISTANT DYES FOR COLOR CONVERSION IN LCD DISPLAYS

LCDs (liquid crystal displays) with improved efficiency and performance, as well as corresponding methods are disclosed. Color conversion films and elements with rhodamine-based fluorescent compounds and/or assistant dyes are used to modify the spectrum of the illumination provided by the backlight unit in either or both the backlight unit itself and the LCD panel, in various configurations. Color conversion may be performed above the LC module, possibly by a patterned layer incorporating the color filters, and/or within the backlight unit within a fluorescence-intensifying section in which radiation is recycled to enhance color conversion. Film configuration, positions and optionally supportive structures are provided, to extend the lifetime of the fluorescent compounds. Collimation of backlight illumination may further enhance the optical performance of disclosed LCDs.

Library of pH responsive polymers and nanoprobes thereof

The present disclosure relates to polymers which contain a hydrophobic and hydrophilic segment which is sensitive to pH. In some aspects, the polymers form a micelle which is sensitive to pH and results in a change in fluorescence based upon the particular pH. In some aspects, the disclosure also provides methods of using the polymers for the imaging of cellular or extracellular environment or delivering a drug.

A Polymer for Treating Hair

The present invention relates to a polymer comprising repeating units derived from at least one first monomer (monomer A) which is a molecule comprising a thiolactone ring and an ethylenically unsaturated, polymerizable double bond, and at least one second monomer (monomer B) which is N-vinyl pyrrolidone. Furthermore the present invention relates to a modified polymer, the structure of which is identical to the structure of the said polymer apart from the only difference, which is that all or at least some of the thiolactone moieties of the said polymer are modified by opening the thiolactone ring with a substance selected from the group consisting of ammonia, a primary amine, 2-amino-1-ethanol and L-lysine, wherein the N-atom of said substance is binding to the carbonyl group of the opened thiolactone ring. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process for making the modified polymer and to the use of the polymer or of the modified polymer for treating hair.
