TWO-COMPONENT POLYURETHANE COMPOSITION
A two-component polyurethane composition comprising a polyisocyanate and an emulsion polymer having greater than 2.2% of hydroxy groups in the emulsion polymer and comprising structural units of a polymerizable surfactant, a first hydroxy-functional monomer, an acid monomer and/or a salt thereof, an additional monoethylenically unsaturated nonionic monomer, and optionally a second hydroxy-functional alkyl (meth)acrylate; the two-component polyurethane composition providing improved alcohol resistance without compromising both acid and alkali resistance.
AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITION FOR FORMING THERMAL INSULATION COATING FOR WALLS AND REFLECTIVE THERMAL INSULATION COATING SYSTEM FOR WALLS CONTAINING THE THERMAL INSULATION COATING
The present disclosure relates to an aqueous coating composition for forming a thermal insulation coating for walls and a reflective thermal insulation coating system for walls containing the thermal insulation coating. In particular, the aqueous coating composition comprises, based on the total weight of the aqueous coating composition, at least 65 wt % of an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles; at least 5 wt % of expanded organic polymer micro-beads; at least 10 wt % water; and 0 to 15 wt % of additional additives, comprising thickeners, dispersants, wetting agents, defoamers, pH adjustors, film-forming aids, hydrophobic agents, coupling agents, bactericides, and antifungal agents or any combination thereof.
POLYMER MIXTURE, MULTILAYER ARTICLE CONTAINING THE SAME, AND PROCESS OF PREPARING THE MULTILAYER ARTICLE.
A novel polymer mixture having fast drying time, and good tensile strength and elongation at break properties, a multilayer article comprising a base layer made from the polymer mixture and a top layer, and a method of preparing the multilayer article.
SURFACE MODIFIED KAOLIN PIGMENT AND METHOD THEREOF
Provided herein are surface treated pigments and methods of making and using the surface treated pigments. The surface treated pigments can comprise a mineral pigment surface treated with a hydrophilic latex composition and a hydrophobic material, which produce a film on an outer surface of the pigment. The hydrophobic material can be selected from a silane, a siloxane, or a siloxane/silicone resin blend, wax, fatty acid, styrene-butadiene latex, or a mixture thereof. The hydrophilic latex composition can be selected from a straight (meth)acrylic latex emulsion, a styrene-(meth)acrylic latex emulsion, or a blend thereof. The surface treated pigment has a surface energy that is less than a surface energy of the mineral pigment alone, a water contact angle of at least 90° and a dodecane contact angle of less than 150°.
Aqueous Compositions with Improved Barrier Properties
Described herein is an aqueous composition to improve barrier properties. Particularly, described herein is a polymer-based grease resistant aqueous composition for coating paper and paper products.
TWO-COMPONENT AQUEOUS SEALING PRIMER FOR WOOD SUBSTRATE, SEALING COATING FORMED THEREOF AND ARTICLE
The present application relates to a two-component aqueous sealing primer for wood, comprising: Component A: a film-forming resin composition comprising at least one aqueous emulsion of cationic resin and optionally at least one additional additive; and Component B: a curing agent composition comprising at least one polyisocyanate.
The formed sealing coating can substantially seal the tannin, grease, and other substances in the wood, and has good sandability.
Water-In-Oil Coating Composition
The invention relates to a water-in-oil coating composition comprising a water phase emulsified in a non-aqueous liquid phase, wherein the non-aqueous phase comprises an autoxidizable binder and wherein an inorganic first salt and an organic second salt are dissolved in the water phase, wherein the inorganic first salt has a solubility in water of at least 100 grams per liter as determined at 20° C., and a solubility in the non-aqueous phase of less than 1.0 grams per liter as determined at 20° C., and wherein the second salt is an organic salt of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, and wherein the coating composition comprises a primary drier. The invention further relates to a substrate coated with a coating deposited from such water-in-oil coating composition.
HYDROPHOBICALLY MODIFIED PIGMENT COMPOSITION
The present invention is a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of metal oxide pigment particles coated with an organosilane polymer comprising structural units of an alkyltrihydroxysilane or a salt thereof, a dialkyldihydroxysilane or a salt thereof, and an ancillary alkylsilane triol. The composition of the present invention provides hydrophobicity to pigment particles, thereby imparting water resistance, and allows for high loadings of pigment in water without increased viscosity. The dispersion is further useful for providing stain and corrosion resistance in coatings arising from paints.
Phosphate surfactant compositions
A phosphate surfactant composition including a phosphate surfactant formed from a secondary alcohol alkoxylate.
Aqueous Primer Compositions and Methods Thereof
Provided is an aqueous primer composition including a first thermosetting resin that is a particulate solid at ambient conditions and a second thermosetting resin that is liquid at ambient conditions and acting as a reactive coalescent agent in which the first thermosetting resin is at least partially soluble. The second thermosetting resin acts as a coalescent agent to enable a continuous primer film to be formed as the primer is being dried before it is cured. The composition further includes a curative that is substantially water-insoluble and reactive with the first and second thermosetting resins. The overall composition can contain up to 4 percent by weight of volatile solvents, other than water and provides a shelf-stable primer that can form a continuous film without the need for added organic solvents.
