Additive for quality determination of adhesive bond primers

A method of adhering a first component to a second component includes priming the first component with an adhesive bond primer containing a primer material, a corrosion inhibitor, and a chemical additive (such as a dye compound), and using an adhesive to attach the second component to the first component through the adhesive bond primer applied on the surface of the second component. The chemical additive allows inspection of the adhesive bond primer with a corresponding radiation source.

ENZYMATIC SELF-CLEANING SEALANTS
20210238391 · 2021-08-05 · ·

Sealants and caulks (i.e., polymeric fillers) disclosed herein are polymeric fillers that comprises a polymeric material composition and one or more lipolytic enzymes dispersed within the polymeric material composition. In preferred embodiments, the polymeric material composition is an acrylic latex sealant such as that in the form of a caulk and the one or more lipolytic enzymes comprises a lipase such as, preferably, a triacylglycerol lipase. Advantageously, the one or more lipolytic enzymes of such sealants and caulks degrades lipid-containing contaminants and resulting lipid-containing stains that contain lipids. The degradation is a result of the ability of a lipolytic enzyme to catalyze a reaction on a lipid-containing substance (i.e., a substrate) to hydrolyze or move (e.g., intra-esterification) ester bonds of such lipid-containing substance. This lipid-degradation functionality at least partially inhibits the growth of such mold and mildew resulting from exposure to lipid-containing contaminants.

Inks, paints, adhesives, and paint strippers may be formulated to include one or more surfactants, from one or more surfactant classes, such as derivatives of amino acids that have surface-active properties.

EDIBLE FUNCTIONAL COATINGS AND HYBRID POLYMER-BASED COATINGS FOR PHARMACY AND FOOD
20210198495 · 2021-07-01 ·

A composition contains silicic acid polycondensate modified with organic groups, as a coating for medicines and foodstuffs or as a component in such a coating. The organic groups are partially or wholly biodegradeable. A method for producing a product coated with the composition and a coated product are further described.

MULTI-FUNCTIONAL DISPERSANT FOR CHEMICAL COATING COMPOSITIONS

A multi-functional dispersant that also serves as a flow modifier and rheology modifier is contemplated. The dispersant itself is a mixture, extruded in the presence of water so as to impart moisture to that extrudate, which is formed from polyester resin, curatives, anti-corrosion pigments, UV absorbers, catalysts, flow modifiers, degassers, anti-oxidants and glass flakes. After grinding and optional mixing with a silica carrier, the resulting dispersant may be introduced to solid and liquid (by way of water) finished coating compositions in order to improve various properties of the coating.

Additives for coating compositions and related methods

Disclosed are curable coating compositions, and methods of cathodic corrosion protection using the compositions. For example, a curable coating composition comprising a mixed salt of magnesium thiodialkanoate, and a method for applying the coating composition, which when applied onto a steel or other ferrous substrate provides an anticorrosive coating, effective for improving resistance to cathodic disbondment.
