An object is to provide a chlorinated polyolefin resin composition being superior in adhesion, solution stability, and chipping resistance. The chlorinated polyolefin resin composition contains a component (A): a polyolefin resin A having a melting point (Tm.sub.A) obtained with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) in the range of 90 to 160 C., and a component (B): a polyolefin resin B having a melting point (Tm.sub.B) obtained with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) in the range of 50 to 130 C., at least any one of the component (A) and the component (B), or a copolymer thereof being a chlorinated polyolefin resin (where |Tm.sub.ATm.sub.B|5 C.).

Method for producing aqueous resin dispersion

The invention is to provide a method for producing an aqueous resin dispersion capable of forming a coating film superior in adhesion to a polypropylene base material, and water resistance. Specifically, the invention provides a method for producing an aqueous resin dispersion, including a step of mixing and polymerizing a polyolefin dispersion (A), a radically polymerizable monomer (B), and a surfactant for emulsion polymerization (C), wherein the amount of the radically polymerizable monomer (B) mixed is 0.5 to 2 times the solid component of the polyolefin dispersion (A) in terms of parts by mass, and the amount of the solid component of the surfactant for emulsion polymerization (C) mixed is 0 to 3 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the radically polymerizable monomer (B).

Base coats, high-gloss lacquers, metallic lacquers, clear lacquers and effect lacquers can be produced which can be applied directly on plastics; this is an absolute novelty because pretreatment is no longer required. With the binder according to the invention it is also possible to formulate adhesives which guarantee very good bonding between plastics themselves and also paperboard packaging. The invention relates to the binder as well as base coats based on them, one-coat lacquers and adhesives.

BASE COATS AND METHODS OF USING AND PRODUCING THE SAME

Base coats, methods of using base coats, and methods of producing base coats are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a method of producing a base coat includes forming a CPO intermediate and a color intermediate. The CPO intermediate includes a chlorinated polyolefin at from about 5 to about 20 weight percent, based on a total weight of the CPO intermediate, as well as a CPO solvent. The color intermediate includes a color imparting additive and a color solvent that is different than the CPO solvent. The CPO intermediate and the color intermediate are combined to form the base coat, where the base coat includes from about 1 to about 3 weight percent chlorinated polyolefin and from about 5 to about 30 weight percent solids, based on a total weight of the base coat.

To solve the problems described herein, this invention provides a resin emulsion for primers capable of suitably controlling sagging when a base coating is applied and capable of obtaining a smooth appearance in aqueous paint systems for plastics. The invention provides an aqueous dispersion comprising an acid-modified polyolefin resin (A), a nitrogen-containing non-ionic emulsifier (B), and water, wherein the acid-modified polyolefin resin (A) is a propylene-?-olefin copolymer having a butene content of 2 to 35 mass % in a polyolefin component, and wherein a coating film after baking at 80? C. has a pure water contact angle of 40? to 90?.

A conductive substance for the promotion of adhesion of liquid and powder coatings to non-conductive substrates is provided that includes a solvent. A chlorinated polyolefin dispersed is dispersed in the solvent along with conductive nanoparticulate. A process of applying a conductive adhesion promoter to a non-conductive substrate is also provided that includes the application of this conductive adhesion promoter to a non-conductive substrate. The surface resistivity the substrate with a cured, dried film of the conductive adhesion promotor is less than 10.sup.6 Ohm/Square. The conductive adhesion promotor cures and dries at an ambient temperature of 20 C. (1 atm) in 3-8 minutes. A dried film on a non-conductive substrate is also provided that has a cured matrix of chlorinated polyolefin in which conductive particulate is dispersed.
