An object of the present invention is to provide a coating agent giving a coating film that has good adhesion and stability over time, a decorative film having at least one layer formed from the coating agent; and an article decorated with the decorative film. The coating agent of the present invention contains, in a specific ratio, an olefin polymer (A) having a heat of fusion of in the range of 0 to 50 J/g and having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) as measured by GPC of 110.sup.4 to 100010.sup.4, a hydrocarbon-based synthetic oil (B) having a 40 C. kinematic viscosity of 30 to 500,000 cSt, and a tackifier (C) having an acid value of 10 or more and having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 0.910.sup.3 to 310.sup.3.

A composition useful as an adhesive for binding a fabric, e.g., a cotton cloth, to a rubber substrate, e.g., a base sheet comprising EPDM, is described, the composition comprising at least the following: (A) A functionalized, halogenated olefin-based polymer having a melt index (12, 190 C./2.16) greater than, or equal, to 30 grams per 10 minutes (g/10 min); (B) A tackifier; and/or (B) An olefin-based polymer having a density from 0.855 to 0.900 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cc) and a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of less than, or equal to, 60,000 grams per mole.

BONDING SYSTEM

A water-based adhesive film-forming cover composition including: (i) at least one film forming polymer; (ii) at least one lower crystallinity first polynitroso compound; (iii) at least one higher crystallinity second polynitroso compound; (iv) at least one crosslinking agent; and (v) water as a carrier liquid; a bonding system including a combination of: (a) a water-based primer component; and (b) the above water-based cover component; a process for manufacturing the above bonding system; and a process of manufacturing a bonded article with the above bonding system. A bonded article, having a bonding line made from the above bonding system disposed between metal and rubber substrates, exhibits excellent stability against an aqueous urea-solution at temperatures of up to about 95? C.

BONDING SYSTEM

A water-based adhesive film-forming cover composition including: (i) at least one film forming polymer; (ii) at least one lower crystallinity first polynitroso compound; (iii) at least one higher crystallinity second polynitroso compound; (iv) at least one crosslinking agent; and (v) water as a carrier liquid; a bonding system including a combination of: (a) a water-based primer component; and (b) the above water-based cover component; a process for manufacturing the above bonding system; and a process of manufacturing a bonded article with the above bonding system. A bonded article, having a bonding line made from the above bonding system disposed between metal and rubber substrates, exhibits excellent stability against an aqueous urea-solution at temperatures of up to about 95? C.
