Nitrogen based hydrogen sulfide scavengers and method of use thereof
The present invention relates to a hydrogen sulphide scavenging additive composition for scavenging hydrogen sulphide including sulfur containing compounds and mercaptans, particularly for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbons, wherein the additive composition comprises substantially reduced amount of nitrogen based hydrogen sulfide scavengers, and is also required in substantially reduced amount, and wherein the additive composition scavenges the sulfur containing compounds not only at room temperature, but also at higher temperatures, and comprises at least a combination of: (A) at least one nitrogen based hydrogen sulfide scavenger; and (B) at least one aliphatic tertiary amine, wherein the nitrogen based hydrogen sulfide scavenger comprises triazine based hydrogen sulfide scavenger. In one embodiment, it also relates to a method for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbons, and in another embodiment it relates to a method of using an additive composition of the present invention for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbons. In yet another embodiment, it relates to a composition comprising (i) a hydrocarbon and (ii) a hydrogen sulfide scavenging additive composition for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbons.

Chemical rejuvenation process to permanently increase the API gravity of crude oil and bitumen
The invention relates to a method of increasing the American Petroleum Institute (API) gravity of feedstocks by reacting one or more mono-cyclic ether solvents such as oxolane with the asphaltene resident in bitumen or crude oils, at an ambient or elevated temperature, and at ambient or elevated pressure, to increase the API gravity and the economic value of the bitumen or crude oil, and a method for in situ manufacturing a mono-cyclic ether, oxolane, to rejuvenate bitumen or heavy crude oils into their younger lighter crude oils by blending methyl linoleate and methanol in a ratio; heating to produce oxolane; and contacting the oxolane as a solvent with the asphaltene resident in bitumen and heavy crude oils to release not only aromatic compounds, represented by toluene, but also the paraffinic alkanes, represented by n-heptane, making the feedstocks ready for extraction, separation of sand, pipeline transport and refining.

The invention relates to a chemical composition produced from mixtures of organic chemical compounds, alcohols, inorganic compounds and oxidizing compounds, by combining controlled strong acids, organic bases, oxidizing compounds, alcohols and a mixture of distilled and double-distilled fatty acids, which mixture, through the use of specific controlled pressures and temperatures, can be used for the production, improved recovery and processing of light, medium, heavy and extra-heavy hydrocarbons and bituminous sands at the surface or from a deposit.
Dissolution of hexamine in non-aqueous solvent
The present disclosure generally relates to scavenging hydrogen sulfide. The disclosure pertains to non-aqueous and non-volatile compositions that include a monolignol alcohol and hydrogen sulfide scavenging compound. The hydrogen sulfide scavenging compound may be hexamine in some aspects. The compositions may also include a C.sub.2-8 polyol. The compositions disclosed are stable and can be used, for example, in removing hydrogen sulfide from hot asphalt.
Dissolution of hexamine in non-aqueous solvent
The present disclosure generally relates to scavenging hydrogen sulfide. The disclosure pertains to non-aqueous and non-volatile compositions that include a monolignol alcohol and hydrogen sulfide scavenging compound. The hydrogen sulfide scavenging compound may be hexamine in some aspects. The compositions may also include a C.sub.2-8 polyol. The compositions disclosed are stable and can be used, for example, in removing hydrogen sulfide from hot asphalt.
Nitrogen-free hydrogen sulfide scavengers
Treatment of streams containing hydrogen and/or hydrocarbons, and in one non-limiting embodiment refinery distillates, with alkyl carbonates, such as dimethylcarbonate, alone or together with at least one solvent results in reduction or removal of hydrogen sulfide (H.sub.2S) that is present to give easily removed alkyl sulfides and/or mercaptans. In one non-limiting embodiment, the treatment converts the original hydrogen sulfide into alkyl sulfides and/or mercaptans that can be extracted from the stream with caustic solutions, mercaptan scavengers, solid absorbents such as clay or activated carbon or liquid absorbents such as amine-aldehyde condensates and/or aqueous aldehydes.
