Renewable Diesel Fuel Production in Retrofitted Fossil Petroleum Refinery to Produce Biiofuel and Bio-Feedstock for Steam Crackers
The present invention relates to a process for the conversion of a feedstock comprising at least 50 wt % related to the total weight of the feedstock of triglycerides, fatty acid esters and/or fatty acids having at least 10 carbon atoms into hydrogen, olefins, dienes, aromatics, gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas comprising: a) introducing of said feedstock in a first reactor to produce linear paraffins in presence of a hydrodesulfurization catalyst and hydrogen, b) separating the effluent of said first reactor in at least three parts to produce at least a first stream comprising part of said linear paraffins and at least a second stream comprising part of said linear paraffins, and at least a third stream comprising part of said linear paraffins c) sending said first stream to a steam cracker to produce hydrogen, olefins, dienes, aromatics and gasoline, diesel fuel being further fractionated; d) introducing said second stream into a second reactor in presence of a hydrocracking or hydroisomerization catalyst to produce a mixture comprising diesel fuel, jet fuel, naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas being further fractionated e) blending said third stream with the diesel fuel obtained at said step d)
wherein said feedstock of said first reactor is diluted in order to limit the temperature increase within said first reactor; and wherein before entering the first reactor said dilution is performed with a weight ratio diluent:feedstock being 1:1, and wherein said diluent comprises at least part of said paraffins obtained at step b).
Integrated mercaptan extraction and/or sweetening processes combined with thermal oxidation and flue gas treatment
An integrated mercaptan extraction and/or sweetening and thermal oxidation and flue gas treatment process for a wide variety of sulfur, naphthenic, phenolic/cresylic contaminated waste streams is described. It provides comprehensive treatment for the safe disposal of sulfidic, naphthenic, phenolic/cresylic spent caustic streams, disulfide streams, spent air streams, spent mixed amine and caustic streams (also known as COS solvent streams) from sulfur treating processes. It allows the use of regenerated spent caustic in the sulfur oxide removal section of the thermal oxidation system reducing the need for fresh NaOH. It may also contain an integrated make-up water system. The integration allows the use of the liquefied petroleum gas or other hydrocarbon feeds to the respective extraction or sweetening process to offset external fuel gas requirements for the thermal oxidation system and for the push/pull system of the spent caustic surge drum and optional hydrocarbon surge drum.
Enclosure of an FCC unit comprising an inner support device rigidly connected to cyclones
The invention relates to an enclosure (10) of a fluid catalytic cracking unit in which an inner space is defined by a side wall (12) having a longitudinal axis extending substantially in the direction of gravity, said enclosure being provided with a plurality of mechanical separation cyclones (14, 16) located inside the inner space. The enclosure (10) comprises a supporting device (20) attached only to the cyclones (14, 16) by: an annular peripheral support element (202) extending along the side wall (12) in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (X), separated from the side wall by a predetermined clearance; and a plurality of beams (206, 208) extending in the same plane as the peripheral support element (202), the beams being rigidly connected to the peripheral support element and to at least one mechanical separation cyclone by one end or by an attachment part distant from the ends thereof.
Environment-friendly marine fuel
For the shipping industry, these fuels provide solutions to long outstanding technical problems that heretofore hindered supply of low sulfur marine fuels in quantities needed to meet worldwide sulfur reduction goals. Marine shipping use of high sulfur bunker oils is reported as largest source of world-wide transportation SOx emissions. When ships on the open seas burn cheap low grade heavy bunker oils high in sulfur, nitrogen and metals, the SOx, NOx, and metal oxides go to the environment. This invention converts essentially all of each barrel of crude feed to a single ultraclean fuel versus conventional refining where crude feed is cut into many pieces, and each piece is sent down a separate market path meeting various different product specifications. When in port, ships can use these fuels to generate and sell electricity to land based electrical grids to offset fuel cost in an environment-friendly manner.
TOWER BOTTOMS COKE CATCHING DEVICE
A coke catching apparatus for use in hydrocarbon cracking to assist in the removal of coke and the prevention of coke build up in high coking hydrocarbon processing units. The apparatus includes a grid device for preventing large pieces of coke from entering the outlet of the process refining equipment while allowing small pieces of coke to pass through and be disposed of. The coke catching apparatus can be easily disassembled to be removed from the refining process equipment and cleaned.
Recovery and re-use of waste energy in industrial facilities
Configurations and related processing schemes of direct or indirect inter-plants heating systems (or both) synthesized for grassroots medium grade crude oil semi-conversion refineries to increase energy efficiency from specific portions of low grade waste heat sources are described. Configurations and related processing schemes of direct or indirect inter-plants heating systems (or both) synthesized for integrated medium grade crude oil semi-conversion refineries and aromatics complex for increasing energy efficiency from specific portions of low grade waste sources are also described.
DIRECT FLAME IMPINGEMENT SHIELD
Described are direct flame impingement shields for fire tubes in heater treaters which reduce corrosion of the fire tubes. The direct flame impingement shield is removable and replaceable. The direct flame impingement shield may be formed from a variety of types of stainless steel or other corrosion resistant material.
Reactor loop fouling monitor for rotating equipment in a petrochemical plant or refinery
A plant or refinery may include equipment such as condensers, regenerators, distillation columns, rotating equipment, compressors, pumps, turbines, or the like. Different operating methods may impact deterioration in equipment condition, thereby prolonging equipment life, extending production operating time, or providing other benefits. Mechanical or digital sensors may be used for monitoring equipment to determine whether problems are developing. For example, sensors may be used in conjunction with one or more system components to perform invariant mapping, monitor system operating characteristics, and/or predict pressure, volume, surges, reactor loop fouling, gas quality, or the like. An operating condition (e.g., of one or more pieces of equipment in the plant or refinery) may be adjusted to prolong equipment life or avoid equipment failure.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CRUDE OIL DESALTING AND DEHYDRATION IN A VERTICAL VESSEL
A system for crude oil desalting and dehydration includes a separation vessel defining a cavity extending along a central axis having a substantially-vertical orientation. The separation vessel comprises a first distributor configured to distribute a mixture within the cavity of the separation vessel, and a second distributor configured to distribute a wash fluid within the cavity of the separation vessel. The mixture comprises crude oil, water, dissolved salts, free salts, or combinations thereof, and the wash fluid comprises an aqueous fluid. The first distributor is disposed within the cavity below the second distributor, and an interface level controller is configured to detect an interface between an oil phase and an aqueous phase and to maintain the interface within a predetermined range within the cavity.
