Synthetic crude composition

An upgraded crude composition is provided, along with systems and methods for making such a composition. The upgraded crude composition can include an unexpectedly high percentage of vacuum gas oil boiling range components while having a reduce or minimized amount of components boiling above 593° C. (1100° F.). In some aspects, based in part on the hydroprocessing used to form the upgraded crude composition, the composition can include unexpectedly high contents of nitrogen. Still other unexpected features of the composition can include, but are not limited to, an unexpectedly high nitrogen content in the naphtha fraction; and an unexpected vacuum gas oil fraction including an unexpectedly high content of polynuclear aromatics, an unexpectedly high content of waxy, paraffinic compounds, and/or an unexpectedly high content of n-pentane asphaltenes.

Method of Treating Pyrolysis Oil From Waste Plastics

The present disclosure provides a method of treating waste plastic pyrolysis oil. The method includes a first step of washing waste plastic pyrolysis oil with water and then removing moisture; a second step of mixing the waste plastic pyrolysis oil from which the moisture is removed and a sulfur source to prepare a mixed oil; a third step of hydrotreating the mixed oil with hydrogen gas in the presence of a hydrotreating catalyst; a fourth step of separating the hydrotreated mixed oil into a liquid stream and a gas stream to obtain liquid pyrolysis oil; and a fifth step of recovering hydrogen gas from the separated gas stream and recycling the recovered hydrogen gas to the third step.

PROCESS AND PLANT FOR PRODUCING GASOLINE FROM A RENEWABLE FEED
20230295526 · 2023-09-21 · ·

The present invention relates to a process and plant for producing hydrocarbon product boiling in the gasoline boiling range from a feedstock originating from a renewable source, the process and plant comprising a hydroprocessing stage which includes hydrodoxygenation for producing renewable diesel and renewable naphtha, and subsequent aromatization of the renewable naphtha thereby also producing a lighthydrocarbon gas stream, such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG), from which a hydrogen stream is produced.

Integrated hydrogen production and bio-renewable conversion process

A bio-renewable conversion process for making fuel from bio-renewable feedstocks is combined with a hydrogen production process that includes recovery of CO.sub.2. The integrated process uses a purge gas stream comprising hydrogen from the bio-renewable hydrocarbon production process in the hydrogen production process.

Environment-friendly marine fuel

For the shipping industry, these fuels provide solutions to long outstanding technical problems that heretofore hindered supply of low sulfur marine fuels in quantities needed to meet worldwide sulfur reduction goals. When ships on the open seas burn cheap low grade heavy bunker oils high in sulfur, nitrogen and metals, the SOx, NOx, and metal oxides go to the environment. This invention converts essentially all of each barrel of crude feed to a single ultraclean fuel versus conventional refining where crude feed is cut into many pieces, and each piece is sent down a separate market path meeting various different product specifications. When in port, ships can generate and sell electricity to land based electrical grids to offset fuel cost in an environment-friendly manner.

For the shipping industry, these fuels provide solutions to long outstanding technical problems that heretofore hindered supply of low sulfur marine fuels in quantities needed to meet worldwide sulfur reduction goals. Marine shipping use of high sulfur bunker oils is reported as largest source of worldwide transportation SOx emissions. Transfer hydrogenation of heavy hydrocarbons with hydrogen-donor solvents

Processes for converting the coal-derived heavy-oil fraction of syncrude to polyols are described. The processes involve mixing a feed stream comprising the coal-derived heavy-oil fraction with an alcohol and aqueous sulfuric acid, heating the mixture, reacting the coal-derived heavy-oil fraction with ozone, and reacting the ozonated heavy-oil fraction with glycerin to form the polyol. In some cases, the ozonated heavy-oil fraction can be neutralized before reacting the ozonated heavy-oil fraction with the glycerin.
