Traditional residential and industrial furnace systems convert the chemical energy of liquid and gas fuels into thermal energy and, in some earlier applications, also into electric energy. This process is driven by a burner specifically designed and built. Often these systems operate at high temperatures, high pressures and relatively lower efficiency levels. The field of present invention generally relates to furnaces that combine the fuel production to the both thermal either electrical energy production. More particularly, the present invention produces a combustible gas that, within the internal workings of the present invention, and can efficiently be burned without the production of high levels of pollutants, at relatively lower temperatures and pressures. The foregoing characteristics, along with the limited size of the elements needed to practice the present invention, make it conducive for use as and in connection with, among other things, residential furnaces and other heating systems, including, for example, heat exchangers and residential hot water tanks. In short, the present invention involves the production of a combustible fuel gas, thermal and electric energy. This production is accomplished through the interconnected use of water electrolysis, catalysts, storage means, regulation, and mean of reusing materials to increase production efficiencies.

A PROCESS AND REACTOR FOR CONVERTING CARBON DIOXIDE INTO CARBON MONOXIDE, INVOLVING A CATALYST

The present invention relates to a process for converting carbon dioxide and hydrogen by performing a reverse water gas shift reaction at elevated temperature, the process comprising introducing carbon dioxide, hydrogen and oxygen into a reaction vessel having an inlet and an outlet, and, wherein the reverse water gas shift reaction takes place in two different zones of the reaction vessel, being a top zone (z1) adjacent to a bottom zone (z2). The process produces a product stream comprising mainly carbon monoxide, hydrogen and water. The process is useful in reducing the carbon footprint of certain industrial technologies, and in addition, the process is useful in the production of synthesis gas.

Parallel preparation of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and a carbon-comprising product

The invention relates to a process for the parallel preparation of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and a carbon-comprising product, wherein one or more hydrocarbons are thermally decomposed and at least part of the pyrolysis gas formed is taken off from the reaction zone of the decomposition reactor at a temperature of from 800 to 1400° C. and reacted with carbon dioxide to form a gas mixture comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen (synthesis gas).

A process for producing syngas in a first reactor, the process comprising: feeding carbon dioxide, hydrogen and first hydrocarbons into the first reactor; at least partially oxidizing the first hydrocarbons in the first region of the first reactor; producing syngas from the carbon dioxide, hydrogen and the oxidized first hydrocarbons in a second region of the first reactor.

A PROCESS AND REACTOR FOR CONVERTING CARBON DIOXIDE INTO CARBON MONOXIDE

A process for converting carbon dioxide and hydrogen into a product stream comprising carbon monoxide, water and hydrogen by introducing carbon dioxide, hydrogen and oxygen into a reaction vessel, and performing a reverse water gas shift reaction at elevated temperature, wherein (a) no catalyst is present in vessel (b) gas stream comprising carbon dioxide, a hydrogen and an oxygen rich gas stream are introduced into the vessel in separate feed streams, (c) the hydrogen and oxygen rich gas stream being introduced in close vicinity of each other, via burner comprising coaxial channels wherein gases gas undergo a combustion reaction, providing the heating energy required for the reverse water-gas shift reaction; and (d) the temperature in vessel is in the range of 1000 to 1500° C. by varying the molar ratio of hydrogen to oxygen.

It is useful in reducing the carbon footprint of certain industrial technologies, and in production of synthesis gas.

In an embodiment: a method of making syngas in a metal reactor can comprise introducing carbon dioxide and hydrogen to the metal reactor in the presence of a catalyst to form the syngas, wherein the metal reactor comprises nickel and wherein the carbon dioxide and the hydrogen are in physical contact with a wall of the metal reactor; and passivating the nickel with a sulfur containing compound.

A method and catalyst for forming higher carbon number products from carbon dioxide is provided. An exemplary catalyst includes red mud including iron and aluminum, and impregnated potassium.

CONTINUOUS UTILIZATION OF INDUSTRIAL FLUE GAS EFFLUENT FOR THE THERMOCHEMICAL REFORMING OF METHANE

Methods and systems of the present disclosure can function to capture flue gas and convert the flue gas to a synthesis gas, which can be further processed to other components such as liquid fuels. Aspects of the present disclosure provide for a process designed to capture flue gas from large scale (i.e. ˜GW), fossil based power plants in a 24/7 continuous operation. In addition, the method and system can convert the flue gas to a synthesis gas (mainly carbon monoxide and hydrogen), which will be processed into high quality liquid fuels, like diesel.

A process for producing a gas stream comprising carbon monoxide comprising the steps of (a) feeding a gas mixture comprising carbon dioxide and hydrogen to a burner and combusting it with a sub-stoichiometric amount of an oxygen gas stream to form a combusted gas mixture comprising carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and steam, (b) passing the combusted gas mixture through a bed of reverse water-gas shift catalyst to form a crude product gas mixture containing carbon monoxide, steam, hydrogen and carbon dioxide, (c) cooling the crude product gas mixture to below the dew point and recovering a condensate to form a dewatered product gas, (d) removing carbon dioxide from the dewatered product gas in a carbon dioxide removal unit to form the gas stream comprising carbon monoxide, and (e) combining carbon dioxide recovered by the carbon dioxide removal unit with the gas mixture comprising hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
