Low sulfur fuel oil blend compositions and methods of making such blend compositions to increase the stability and compatibility of LSFO blends having paraffinic resids that are blended with distillates and/or cracked stocks of higher asphaltenes and/or aromatics content. In one or more embodiments, distillates and/or cracked stocks that incrementally reduce the initial aromaticity of the distillate or cracked stock with the highest aromaticity are sequentially blended prior to resid addition. Such incremental reduction and sequential blending have been found to provide a resulting low sulfur fuel oil blend that is both compatible and stable.
Biofuel and method for preparation by isomerizing metathesis
Subject of the invention is a process for producing a biofuel from fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) obtained by transesterification of vegetable oils, comprising the steps of (a) ethenolysis of the fatty acid methyl esters in the presence of ethylene and an ethenolysis catalyst, and (b) isomerizing metathesis in the presence of an isomerization catalyst and a metathesis catalyst. LOW-PRESSURE CATALYTIC CONVERSION OF USED MOTOR OIL TO DIESEL FUEL
A method is provided for reprocessing a petroleum-based waste oil feedstock into diesel fuel. The method includes forming a treated feedstock by (a) filtering the feedstock, thereby removing solids and metals from the feedstock, and (b) dehydrating the feedstock; vaporizing the treated feedstock to produce an oil vapor; passing the oil vapor through at least one catalyst bed and subsequently through a cooler, thereby converting the oil vapor to a hydrocarbon liquid product with a diesel product boiling point range; and removing contaminants from the hydrocarbon liquid product, wherein the contaminants are selected from the group consisting of particulates and color precursors.
System for flare gas recovery using gas sweetening process
The present disclosure includes systems and methods that integrate a flare gas recovery process with a gas sweetening process used in oil and gas refining. A flare gas recovery system includes a primary gas sweetening unit and a liquid-driven ejector in continuous fluid communication with the primary gas sweetening unit. The ejector includes an inlet configured to receive a motive fluid including a regenerable amine solvent in a lean state from the primary gas sweetening unit, a gas inlet configured to receive a suction fluid including a gas, and a fluid outlet configured to either directly or indirectly discharge to the primary gas sweetening unit a two-phase fluid including a mixture of the suction fluid and the amine solvent in a rich state.
