Lubricants for water-based drilling fluids
Embodiments are directed to a lubricant package for water based drilling fluids. The lubricant package includes water, a polyethylene glycol, and a lubricating agent. The lubricating agent includes triethanolamine, or a C.sub.12-C.sub.14 alcohol ethoxylate, or a combination of triethanolamine and C.sub.12-C.sub.14 alcohol ethoxylate. The weight ratio of the polyethylene glycol to the lubricating agent in the lubricant package is from 1:2 to 2:1. Embodiments are also directed to a water-based drilling fluid composition including an aqueous base fluid, one or more additives, and the lubricant package for water based drilling fluids.
Paste type lubrication
In a paste type lubrication between a steel wire rope and a rope groove of a pulley, is applied a paste lubricant which contains oil and small solid particles. Solid particles could be of a wide variety sizes and they are small enough to at least partly fit into the valleys between the peaks of surface roughness of the ropes or the rope groove.
MATERIAL COMPOSITIONS AND SEQUENCES OF MANUFACTURING
The disclosure provides for a valve including a surface movably engaged with another surface. A coating is on the surface and is characterized by: a CoF of less than 0.1; a hardness in excess of 1,200 HVN; impermeability to liquids at pressures ranging from 15 and 20,000 psi; a surface finish of 63 or less; and a thickness ranging from 0.5 to 20 mils. The disclosure provides for material constructions including a continuous phase, including a transition metal, and a discontinuous phase, including a solid dry lubricant. The disclosure also provides for a method of depositing a coating that includes depositing a first layer of a coating onto a surface using electroplating, electroless plating, thermal spraying, or cladding, and then depositing a second layer of the coating onto a surface of the first layer using sputtering, ion beam, plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, cathodic arc, or chemical vapor deposition.

Lubricant composition having improved high-temperature durability
The present disclosure relates to a lubricant composition including a base oil, a thickener and a thickener supplement, and a method of manufacturing the same. The lubricant composition of the present disclosure is effective at improving performance at high-temperature by maintaining the evaporation amount and friction characteristics even at high temperatures, thus inhibiting oil contamination of powertrain parts and the like and maintaining sticking phenomenon even in a high-temperature environment, thereby increasing the durability of parts.
Extreme pressure metal sulfonate grease
An overbased metal detergent grease comprising at least one of polyalkylene glycol and/or an acid having at least one of both a nitrogen and a sulfur atom. The grease has improved extreme pressure performance as measured by the Standard Test Method for Measurement of Extreme-Pressure Properties of Lubricating Grease (Four-Ball Method), ASTM D2596. Methods of making an overbased metal detergent grease comprising using at least one of polyalkylene glycol and/or an acid having at least one of both a nitrogen and a sulfur atom. Methods of lubricating mechanical components using the grease comprising contacting the mechanical component with the grease. Mechanical components can include gears, drivetrain elements, bearings, hinges, or combinations thereof.
