SLIDING MEMBER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A sliding member in which a sliding layer is capable of exhibiting excellent sliding characteristics in terms of seizure resistance, wear resistance and heat resistance.
A method for manufacturing the sliding member of the present teachings is a method for manufacturing a sliding member to manufacture a sliding member sliding with a mating material. The manufacturing method includes irradiating particulate ultra high molecular weight polyethylene with radiation rays in a sealed state, and crosslinking the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, preparing a composition for a sliding layer containing a solid lubricant and a binder resin, and forming a sliding layer sliding with the mating material by providing the composition for a sliding layer on a base material, and obtaining the sliding member. The solid lubricant includes the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene crosslinked during the irradiating and the crosslinking.
DURABLE LOW FRICTION COATING (DLFC) FOR BRAKE APPLICATION
Technologies are described for a durable low friction coating (DLFC), which may be manufactured by mixing a binder, a filler, and one or more additives in liquid form, rolling the liquid mixture onto a coil material and curing for subsequent cutting and stamping. The DLFC may be used to coat an abutment clip or a brake shim directly onto a metal substrate or over an elastomer layer. Water-based binders may be used for environmentally friendly brake systems. In some examples, the binder in the DLFC may be in a range from at least 70 weight % to less than 95 weight %, the filler in a range from at least 1 weight % to less than 15 weight %, and the additives in a range from at least 0.2 weight % to less than 5 weight %.
Threaded tubular connection provided with a metallic coating on the threading and on the sealing surface
A threaded tubular connection for drilling or operating hydrocarbon wells contains a portion of a tubular element with a male end having an axis of revolution and provided with a first threading extending about the axis of revolution, the male end portion being complementary with a portion of a tubular element with a female end having an axis of revolution and provided with a second threading extending about the axis of revolution, the male and female end portions being capable of being connected by makeup, each of the male and female end portions further comprising a sealing surface with a metal-metal interference, wherein the threading and the sealing surfaces of the male and female end portions are coated with a metallic anti-corrosion and anti-galling layer wherein zinc (Zn) is the major element by weight. One of the metallic anti-corrosion and anti-galling layers is coated with a passivation layer and the other is at least partially coated with a lubricant layer.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY LUBRICATING GREASE FOR STEEL ROPES
An environmentally acceptable lubricating grease, comprising: a) 50 wt % to 90 wt % of a biodegradable base oil comprising a biodegradable ester as base oil; b) 3 wt % to 25 wt % of a thickener selected from b1) 3 wt % to 12 wt % biodegradable calcium soap, b2) 3 wt % to 25 wt % bentonites, b3) and mixtures thereof; c) 4 wt % to 40 wt % additives, comprising c1) 1 wt % to 12 wt % fumed silicon dioxide and/or polytetrafluoroethylene and/or mixtures thereof, c2) 2 wt % to 45 wt % of a polymer selected from polyisobutylene, polyisobutylene/butene copolymer, polymethacrylates, polyesters and mixtures thereof, c3) 0.5 wt % to 20 wt % of a solid lubricant.
System, composition and method of application of same for reducing the coefficient of friction and required pulling force during installation of wire or cable
A composition and method for reducing the coefficient of friction and required pulling force of a wire or cable are provided. A composition of aqueous emulsion is provided that is environmentally friendly, halogen free and solvent free. The composition is compatible with various types of insulating materials and may be applied after the wire or cable is cooled and also by spraying or submerging the wire or cable in a bath. The composition contains lubricating agents that provide lower coefficient of friction for wire or cable installation and continuous wire or cable surface lubrication thereafter.
