Zinc-free lubricating composition
The invention is directed to a zinc-free lubricating composition for an internal combustion engine containing a phosphorus anti-wear agent, an ashless antioxidant, and a metal-free basic detergent. The lubricating composition provides wear protection, deposit control, and improved acid control with reduced levels of metal-containing additives.

The invention is directed to a zinc-free lubricating composition for an internal combustion engine containing a phosphorus anti-wear agent, an ashless antioxidant, and a metal-free basic detergent. The lubricating composition provides wear protection, deposit control, and improved acid control with reduced levels of metal-containing additives.
WATER-SOLUBLE METAL WORKING FLUID COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR USING SAME
A water-soluble metalworking fluid composition and a method of using the same. The water-soluble metalworking fluid composition has the components (A), (B), and (C), where (A) is a fatty acid having a carbon atom number of 9-11, (B) is an unsaturated fatty acid having a carbon atom number of 16-22, and (C) is a polymeric fatty acid having an acid value of 10-200 mgKOH/g. (A) is 1-20 mass %, (B) is 30-60 mass %, and (C) is 35-55 mass %, based on the total amount of the components (A), (B) and (C). The water-soluble metalworking fluid composition maintains the workability while improving the mechanical fouling.
CARBON TRANSFER FILM
Provided is a carbon transfer film excellent in wear suppression and friction reduction effects. A carbon transfer film 12 contains sp.sup.2-bonded carbon, wherein a ratio of zirconium calculated by elemental analysis of a surface by SEM-EDX measurement is 0.6 mass % or lower, and a thickness is less than 100 nm. A sliding member 1 includes a substrate 11 and a carbon transfer film 12 provided on at least one surface of the substrate 11, wherein the carbon transfer film 12 contains sp.sup.2-bonded carbon and has a thickness of less than 100 nm; and a ratio of zirconium calculated from elemental analysis the carbon transfer film 12 surface by SEM-EDX measurement of is 0.6 mass % or lower. A lubricant composition contains an organic dispersion medium as a lubricant base and nanodiamond particles nanodispersed in the organic dispersion medium, wherein a content ratio of zirconia is lower than 100 mass ppm.

AMINO ACIDS AS GREEN NEUTRALIZING AGENT FOR ACIDIC CORROSION INHIBITORS
With the present invention, sustainable systems for corrosion, inhibition in the processing of metals (in particular iron, aluminum and magnesium) are made available. These systems being in full accordance with the principles of green chemistry comprise an amino acid as neutralizing component for an acidic corrosion inhibitor, whereby the amino acid is used in deprotonated form. The resulting metalworking fluids may be water- or oil-based or semi synthetic formulations. The neutralization of acidic corrosion inhibitors with the claimed system comprising an amino acid consistently achieves convincing results and, together with acidic corrosion inhibitors from corresponding sources, completely renewable systems for corrosion inhibition are provided.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME
A lubricant composition with improved stability and tolerance for water hardness comprises a synthetic wax emulsion; an amine derivative; an emulsifier; and a sequestrant. The synthetic wax emulsion may include poly(ethyleneoxide)-based or poly(propyleneoxide)-based wax emulsions. The amine derivative may include alkyl C.sub.12-C.sub.14 oxy propyl diamine. The lubricant composition can be used for lubricating the passage of a container along a conveyor. The method includes applying the lubricant composition to at least a part of the container or the conveyor in an application cycle, where the application cycle includes a first period of time of dispensing the lubricant composition and a second period of time of not dispensing the lubricant composition.

The present invention relates to a lubricating oil composition containing: (A) a poly-α-olefin base oil obtained by using a metallocene catalyst; (B) a mineral oil-based base oil exhibiting a distillation curve with a temperature gradient Δ|Dt| of distillation temperature between two points 2.0 vol % and 5.0 vol % of distillation amount being 6.8° C./vol % or less; and (C) an ester-based base oil in an amount of 6% by mass or more based on a total amount of the composition.
