This invention encompasses lubricating oil compositions comprising a base oil, a biodiesel fuel and a dispersant. A method for inhibiting viscosity increase in a diesel engine fueled at least in part with a biodiesel fuel is also described.
GREASE COMPOSITIONS WITH IMPROVED PERFORMANCE AND METHODS OF PREPARING AND USING THE SAME
The present disclosure provides a grease composition with improved water resistance and mechanical stability at high-temperatures, including: at least one base oil; a water insoluble thickener; and a low molecular weight thixotropic polyamide composition having molecular weight distribution characteristics meeting the requirement described by the relationship:
where A=the % mass of the polyamide composition with a molecular weight greater than 1700 AMU; B=the % mass of the polyamide composition with a molecular weight between 1100 AMU and 1300 AMU; C=the % mass of the polyamide composition with a molecular weight between 700 AMU and 1000 AMU; and D=the % mass of the polyamide composition with a molecular weight of 600 AMU or lower (determined by GPC). The grease composition of the present disclosure provides a less than 50 penetration point change as determined by ASTM-D7342, a less than 10 mg weight loss as determined by ASTM-D4170, or both.
PASSENGER CAR LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITIONS FOR FUEL ECONOMY
The present disclosure generally relates to an internal combustion engine lubricating oil composition comprising: (a) a major amount of a base oil of lubricating viscosity; (b) a nitrogen-containing dispersant; (c) an alkaline earth metal containing detergent; (d) a compound comprising the reaction product of: (i) a nitrogen-containing reactant, wherein the nitrogen-containing reactant comprises an alkyl alkanolamide, an alkyl alkoxylated alkanolamide, an alkyl alkanolamine, an alkyl alkoxylated alkanolamine or mixtures thereof, (ii) a source of boron, and (iii) a hydrocarbyl polyol, having at least three hydroxyl groups.
Also provided is a method for improving fresh oil or used oil fuel economy in an internal combustion engine comprising lubricating said engine with said lubricating oil composition.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
Disclosed is a lubricating oil composition capable of inhibiting vibrations or noises generated between a pulley and a chain or between a pulley and a belt in a CVT or the like, while increasing an intermetallic friction coefficient, the composition containing a base oil, an alkaline earth metal-based detergent (A), a phosphite ester (B1), a phosphate ester amine salt (B2), an acidic phosphate ester (B3), an aliphatic monoamine (C1), and an aromatic monoamine (C2).
Lubricating composition with seals compatibility
The disclosed technology relates to a lubricating composition additives that prevent or reduce seals degradation, especially in the presence of basic amine compounds which impart basicity (measured as total base number or TBN) to the lubricating composition. The lubricating composition contains (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity, (b) a basic amine compound, and (c) a 1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione compound.
Fluids for Extreme Pressure and Wear Applications
Provided are compositions, additives for forming compositions, methods of operating apparatus in fluid communication with the compositions, and apparatus comprising the compositions. For example, the composition may include a polyalphaolefin component of from about 95% to about 99.5% w/w. The composition may include an additive component. The additive component may include an anti-wear agent. The anti-wear agent may be from about 0.1% to about 2% w/w. The anti-wear component may be characterized by an acid value of at least about 1 mg KOH/g. The additive component may include an aryl amine antioxidant agent, an anti-rust agent, and a metal deactivator agent. The composition may be characterized by a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of at least about 5 centiStokes, a viscosity index of at least about 80, and an acid value in mg KOH/g of between about 0.1 and about 1.
MARINE DIESEL LUBRICANT OIL COMPOSITIONS
A lubricating oil composition is provided which comprises (a) greater than 50 wt. % of a base oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) 0.1 to 40 wt. % of an overbased alkaline earth metal alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic carboxylate having a TBN, on an actives basis, of at least 600 mg KOH/g, as determined by ASTM D 2896; wherein the lubricating oil composition is a monograde lubricating oil composition meeting specifications for SAE J300 revised January 2015 requirements for a SAE 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 monograde engine oil, and has a TBN of 5 to 200 mg KOH/g, as determined by ASTM D2896.

A lubricating oil composition is provided which comprises (a) greater than 50 wt. % of a base oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) 0.1 to 40 wt. % of an overbased alkaline earth metal alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic carboxylate, wherein the alkyl substituent is a residue derived from an isomerized alpha-olefin having from 12 to 40 carbon atoms, and having a TBN, on an actives basis, of less than 600 mg KOH/g, as determined by ASTM D 2896; wherein the lubricating oil composition is a monograde lubricating oil composition meeting specifications for SAE J300 revised January 2015 requirements for a SAE 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 monograde engine oil, and has a TBN of 5 to 200 mg KOH/g, as determined by ASTM D2896.
MARINE DIESEL LUBRICANT OIL COMPOSITIONS HAVING IMPROVED LOW TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCE
A method for improving low temperature performance of a lubricant in a compression-ignited internal combustion engine is disclosed. The method comprises operating the engine with a monograde lubricating oil composition comprising (a) a major amount of a base oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) a minor amount of an overbased alkaline earth metal salt of an alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound, the alkyl substituent being a residue derived from an isomerized alpha-olefin having from 12 to 40 carbon atoms per molecule.
