Lubricant composition
A lubricant composition for a resin-resin sliding portion or a resin-metal sliding portion that contains a base oil containing a perfluoropolyether oil including a side chain, and a polytetrafluoroethylene having a primary particle diameter of 1 μm or larger and a melamine cyanurate as thickeners.
Lubricant composition and rolling bearing having same sealed therein
The rolling bearing of the present invention is lubricated with a lubricant composition which contains a fatty acid metal salt, a metal dithiocarbamate, a phosphorous-type additive, and a basic additive, and which has a total acid value of 3.7 mgKOH/g or more. The rolling bearing makes it possible to further improve anti-fretting performance, and to reduce a decrease in fretting resistance even when used under the circumstance that fluorine-type grease penetrates into the bearing using urea-type grease.
Ionic liquids containing quaternary ammonium and phosphonium cations, and their use as environmentally friendly lubricant additives
An ionic liquid composition having the following generic structural formula: ##STR00001##
wherein Z is N or P, and R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are independently selected from hydrogen atom and hydrocarbon groups having one to four carbon atoms with optional interconnection to form a cyclic group that includes Z, and wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are all hydrocarbon groups when Z is P, and X.sup.− is a phosphorus-containing or carboxylate anion, particularly an organophosphate, organophosphonate, or organophosphinate anion, or a thio-substituted analog thereof containing hydrocarbon groups with at least three carbon atoms. Also described are lubricant compositions comprising the above ionic liquid and a base lubricant, wherein the ionic liquid is dissolved in the base lubricant. Further described are methods for applying the ionic liquid or lubricant composition onto a mechanical device for which lubrication is beneficial, with resulting improvement in friction reduction, wear rate, and/or corrosion inhibition.
GREASE COMPOSITION
A grease composition includes a base oil, a thickener, and an additive. The base oil is at least one selected from the group consisting of polyoxyalkylene, ether derivatives of polyoxyalkylene, and mixtures thereof. The additive includes polytetrafluoroethylene as a first solid lubricant and at least one selected from the group consisting of calcium carbonate, calcium oxide, tricalcium phosphate, and calcium salts of fatty acids as a second solid lubricant. The content of the second solid lubricant is 0.5% by mass or more based on the total mass of the composition.
Lubricant composition and method for producing same
The present invention relates to a lubricant composition containing: a base oil (A); at least one kind of calcium-based detergent (B) selected from (B1) calcium sulfonate having a base number of 5.00 mgKOH/g or more and 100 mgKOH/g or less, (B2) calcium salicylate having a branched acyclic hydrocarbon group, and (B3) overbased calcium phenate having a branched acyclic hydrocarbon group; and at least one kind of ashless detergent (C) selected from (C1) a hindered amine compound having one piperidine-derived backbone in a molecule, and (C2) a specific diethanolamine compound. In the lubricant composition, the calcium atom content is 100 ppm by mass or more and 600 ppm by mass or less with respect to the total mass of the lubricant composition, and the ratio (N.sub.C/Ca.sub.B) of the nitrogen atom content (N.sub.C) of the ashless detergent (C) to the calcium atom content (Ca.sub.B) of the calcium-based detergent (B) is 1.3 to 3.1 as a mass ratio.
ASHLESS ADDITIVE COMPOSITION
This disclosure describes an ashless lubricant additive. The additive is a tertiary amine-containing compound having the following structure:
##STR00001##
where each R.sup.1 and R.sup.5 is independently a linear or branched-chain monovalent hydrocarbyl group having two to about twenty carbon atoms, where each R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 is independently a hydrogen, a linear or branched-chain monovalent hydrocarbyl group having one to about twenty carbon atoms wherein at least one of R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 is hydrogen, each m is independently from 0 to 2, each p is independently from 0 to 2, for each cylic moiety m+p is from 2 to 4, and each n is independently from 1 to 6.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITION CONTAINING ASHLESS TBN MOLECULES
New ashless TBN molecules are synthesized, and lubricant compositions containing them, boost the total base number. The lubricant compositions further tested for ASTM D6594 copper corrosion test meets ASTM limits.
