Lubricant Composition

A lubricant composition includes a base oil present in an amount of greater than 70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the lubricant composition and an antioxidant. The antioxidant has the structure: wherein each X is independently CH or N, so long as at least one X is N, wherein Y is CRR, NR, PR, S, or O, each R, R and R is independently H, alkyl or aryl, and R is alkyl, aryl, alkoxy or aryloxy. Each A is independently an electron donating group. The electron donating group (1) has an atom having at least one lone pair of electrons that is bonded directly to the aromatic ring, (2) is an aryl or alkyl group, or (3) is a hydrogen atom.

Disclosed is a lubricating oil composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and an oil soluble synergistic mixture of antioxidants, said mixture comprising: a) a hindered amine antioxidant according to formula (I) ##STR00001## wherein each R.sup.1 is independently selected from a substituted or unsubstituted, branched or linear, C.sub.1-C.sub.20 hydrocarbyl group; R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom or a, substituted or unsubstituted, branched or linear, C.sub.1-C.sub.20 hydrocarbyl group; each R.sup.3 is independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom or a, substituted or unsubstituted, branched or linear, C.sub.1-C.sub.20 hydrocarbyl group; each R.sup.4 is independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom or a, substituted or unsubstituted, branched or linear, C.sub.1-C.sub.20 hydrocarbyl group; n is an integer from 1 to 4; and m is an integer from 1 to 5; and b) a molybdenum succinimide complex.

Lubricant Composition

A lubricant composition includes a base oil present in an amount of greater than 70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the lubricant composition and an antioxidant. The antioxidant has the structure: wherein each X is independently C-A or N, so long as at least one X is N but no more than two of X are N. Moreover, A is H, cyano or an electron donating group that: (1) has an atom having at least one lone pair of electrons that is bonded directly to the aromatic ring; or (2) is an aryl group or alkyl group. Further, each R is independently H, an alkyl group, or aryl group and each R is independently an alkyl group or an aryl group.

LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING AMINE COMPOUNDS HAVING IMPROVED SEAL PERFORMANCE

Provided is an internal combustion engine lubricating oil composition which comprises a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity; one or more oil soluble or oil dispersible organic acid anhydrides, said anhydride comprising at least one hydrocarbyl or hydrocarbylene moiety having from about 10 to about 400 carbon atoms; and an oil soluble or oil dispersible secondary hydrocarbylamine compound, a tertiary hydrocarbylamine compound, or combinations thereof. Also provided is a method for maintaining and/or increasing fresh oil TBN of a lubricating oil composition while at the same time improving seal performance in an internal combustion engine.

This disclosure is directed to an additive package for a lubricant composition that provides improved fluoropolymer compatibility. The additive package comprises a halide seal compatibility additive and a second seal compatibility additive. The disclosure is also directed to a lubricant composition comprising a base oil, a halide seal compatibility additive, and a second seal compatibility additive. The halide seal compatibility and the second seal compatibility additive improves the fluoropolymer seal compatibility of the resultant lubricant composition.

Composition Containing Heterocyclic Compounds and a Method of Lubricating an Internal Combustion Engine

The present invention relates to a lubricating composition containing (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; and(b) a compound selected from the group consisting of: (i) an ester-containing heterocycle; (ii) an amide-containing heterocycle; and (iii) a pyrimidine, wherein the ester-containing heterocycle and the amide-containing heterocycle have a hydrocarbyl group containing 6 to 40 carbon atoms. The invention further provides for a method of supplying an internal combustion engine with the lubricating composition.
