USE OF A LUBRICANT COMPOSITION FOR TRANSMISSION
The present invention relates to the use of a lubricating composition comprising: -at least one base oil; and -at least one monoester which is separate from the base oil and formed between a linear, saturated or unsaturated C.sub.8-C.sub.14 monocarboxylic acid, and a branched, saturated or unsaturated C.sub.4-C.sub.16 monoalcohol to reduce the fuel consumption of a vehicle fitted with a transmission member, in particular a gearbox and/or an axle, which is lubricated by means of said composition.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
Disclosed is a lubricating oil composition capable of having a good balance of electrical insulation, seizure resistance and wear resistance. In particular, the lubricating oil composition comprises: (A) a lubricant base oil; (B) an alkaline earth metal detergent; (C) a triazole-based compound represented by the following general formula (1) or (2):

wherein R.sup.1-R.sup.6 are as defined herein; (D) at least one sulfur-containing compound selected from the group consisting of a sulfur-containing heterocyclic ether compound and a sulfide compound; and (E) an ashless dispersant.
HIGH VISCOSITY BASE FLUIDS BASED ON OIL COMPATIBLE POLYESTERS
A polyester is useful as a high viscosity base fluid. A method for its preparation involves isomerizing an alpha-olefin, epoxidizing an internal olefin, reacting an internal epoxide, and isolating the polyester. Lubricant compositions can contain such polyesters and the compositions are useful as automatic transmission fluids, manual transmission fluids, continuously variable transmission fluids, gear oil formulations, industrial gear oil formulations, axle fluid formulations, dual clutch transmission fluids, dedicated hybrid transmission fluids, or as hydraulic oils.
HIGH VISCOSITY BASE FLUIDS BASED ON OIL COMPATIBLE POLYESTERS PREPARED FROM LONG-CHAIN EPOXIDES
A polyester is useful as a high viscosity base fluid. A method for its preparation involves epoxidizing an alpha-olefin, reacting the alpha-epoxide or diol with a saturated linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, and isolating the polyester. Lubricant compositions can contain such polyesters and the compositions are useful as automatic transmission fluids, manual transmission fluids, continuously variable transmission fluids, gear oil formulations, industrial gear oil formulations, axle fluid formulations, dual clutch transmission fluids, dedicated hybrid transmission fluids, or as hydraulic oils.
Transformer oil basestock and transformer oil composition comprising the same
A transformer oil basestock is disclosed that includes at least 99 wt % of naphthenes and paraffins, based on the total weight of the transformer oil basestock, wherein the weight ratio of naphthenes to paraffins is at least 1, as measured by GC-MS, and wherein the paraffins consist essentially of isoparaffins, as determined by GC-FID. In addition, a transformer oil composition is disclosed that includes the transformer oil basestock, an anti-gassing agent and an antioxidant.
Aqueous Metalworking Fluids and Methods For Using The Same
This disclosure relates generally to metalworking fluids. This disclosure relates more particularly to water-soluble metalworking fluids that include high viscosity polymers, and that can be used in metal cold rolling operations.
HAZY-FREE AT 0°C HEAVY BASE OIL AND A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING
A process for producing a base oil composition from a deasphalted oil (DAO) feed, where the DAO feed undergoes hydrotreating, hydrocracking, catalytically dewaxing, hydrofinishing, and fractionating to generate the base oil composition. The base oil composition includes a hazy-free at 0° C. heavy base oil comprising (a) a kinetic viscosity ranging from 15 to 21 cSt at 100° C., (b) a 5 viscosity index of at least 95, (c) a pour point of less than −12° C., (d) a cloud point of less than −18° C., and (e) a total aromatics content of 2 wt % or less, where the hazy-free at 0° C. heavy base oil maintains a hazy-free appearance when stored undisturbed at 0° C. during a test period.
Lubricating base oils from esterified alkoxylated polyols using saturated long-chain fatty acids
The present disclosure relates to methods and compositions for making bio-based, biodegradable, and non-bioaccumulating lubricating base oils generated by esterifying alkoxylated polyols (average alkoxylation ≥3) with long-chain (≥C14) saturated and unsaturated fatty acids (FA) or fatty acids modified using industry recognized techniques.
