POLYALPHAOLEFIN HAVING UNIFORM STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF PREPARING SAME
The present invention relates to a polyalphaolefin having a uniform structure and a method of preparing the same, and more particularly to a method of preparing polyalphaolefin having a uniform comb-like structure by minimizing the formation of short chain branches, which deteriorate the properties of lubricant base oil, using a homogeneous single-active-site metallocene catalyst, an organometallic compound cocatalyst and an organoboron compound promoter.
Mineral base oil and lubricating oil composition
Provided is a mineral base oil having a kinematic viscosity at 40 C. of 4.0 mm.sup.2/s or more and less than 6.0 mm.sup.2/s, a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of 1.0 mm.sup.2/s or more and less than 2.0 mm.sup.2/s, and a flash point of 140 C. or higher. A lubricating oil composition containing the mineral base oil has a high flash point while having a low viscosity and thus having excellent fuel-saving performance when used as a driving system oil and the like.
Comb polymers for improving Noack evaporation loss of engine oil formulations
A comb polymer can be used for reducing a Noack evaporation loss of a lubricant composition, especially of an engine oil composition. Application of the comb polymer to the lubricant composition can bring about the desired reduction. The comb polymer can include specified amounts of macromonomer and alkyl acrylates. Resulting lubricant compositions can include the comb polymer.
Gear oil composition
The present invention relates to a gear oil composition containing a base stock and at least 0.01 wt % of a friction reducing additive which comprises a glycerol and/or polyglycerol C.sub.12 to C.sub.24 saturated fatty ester. The gear oil composition is suitable for use in gear boxes in automotive, industrial and marine applications.

Bright stock production from deasphalted oil
Compositions are provided for lubricant base stocks produced from feeds such as vacuum resid or other 510 C.+ feeds. A feed can be deasphalted and then catalytically and/or solvent processed to form lubricant base stocks, including bright stocks that are resistant to haze formation.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine, the composition including: a lubricating base oil comprising at least one mineral base oil or at least one synthetic base oil or any combination thereof, the lubricating base oil having a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of 4.0 to 4.5 mm.sup.2/s and a NOACK evaporation loss at 250 C. of no more than 15 mass %; (A) a calcium-containing metallic detergent in an amount of no less than 1000 mass ppm and less than 2000 mass ppm in terms of calcium on the basis of the total mass of the composition; (B) a magnesium-containing metallic detergent in an amount of 100 to 1000 mass ppm in terms of magnesium on the basis of the total mass of the composition; and optionally (C) a viscosity index improver in an amount of less than 1 mass % on the basis of the total mass of the composition.
Fluid with polyalkylene glycol and unsaturated ester
A fluid contains a base oil consisting of an alcohol-initiated polyalkylene glycol where polyalkylene glycol component is selected from a homopolymer of 1,2-butylene oxide and copolymer of 1,2-butylene oxide and propylene oxide; a glycerol-initiated unsaturated ester that is free of tertiary carbon atoms and quaternary carbon atoms; and an antioxidant.

USE OF BIODEGRADABLE HYDROCARBON FLUIDS AS DRILLING FLUIDS
The invention is a fluid having a kinematic viscosity from 3 to 6 mm.sup.2/s, a flash point of higher than 120 C. and a pour point lower than 40 C., having a boiling point in the range of from 200 C. to 400 C. and a boiling range below 80 C., said fluid comprising more than 95% isoparaffins and less than 3% of naphthens by weight, a biocarbon content of at least 95% by weight, containing less than 100 ppm aromatics by weight. The invention is also a drilling fluid and the use of the fluid to improve the viscosity of the drilling fluid.
