Method and a system for producing an oil rich fraction from biomass
The invention relates to a method for producing an oil rich fraction (OF) from primary feedstock (FS) that comprises water, first salt, second salt, and biomass. The feedstock (FS) is provided to a first reaction zone (Z1) of a conversion reactor (100), where it is allowed to react at a temperature of at least 350 C. in a pressure of at least 160 bar to form converted primary feedstock. The method comprises separating from the converted primary feedstock a first salt rich fraction (SF1), a second salt rich fraction (SF2), and an oil rich fraction (OF). The method comprises withdrawing the oil rich fraction (OF) from the first reaction zone (Z1) and withdrawing the first salt rich fraction (SF1) and the second salt rich fraction (SF2) from the conversion reactor (100). In the method the first salt rich fraction (SF1) comprises at least some of the first salt dissolved in the water, the second salt rich fraction (SF2) comprises at least some of the second salt in solid form, and at least one of the first salt and the second salt is a salt capable of catalysing the reaction of the biomass of the primary feedstock (FS) with the water of the primary feedstock (FS) to produce the oil rich fraction (OF). A device for the same.
LUBRICITY ADDITIVE FOR FUEL WITH A LOW SULPHUR CONTENT
The invention relates to a lubricity additive for fuel, particularly for diesel fuel, directly obtained from the acidification of a soapstock produced by a method for refining at least one vegetable and/or animal oil. The lubricity additive according to the invention is more specifically used for fuels that have a low sulfur content, for example, lower than 500 ppm (by weight).
VERY LONG CHAIN POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS FROM NATURAL OILS
A method of producing a composition comprising a high concentration of very long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (VLCPUFAs) from natural oils such as fish oil, squid oil, algal oil and krill oil. In addition, a composition comprising a high concentration of very long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids isolated from such natural sources; as well as to a process for isolating separate fractions of very long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids having identical chain lengths but different degrees of unsaturation from such highly concentrated compositions is disclosed.
Methods and industrial processes for the production of free fatty acids and derivatives thereof from soap stocks
This invention generally relates to the production of free fatty acids and/or derivatives thereof, e.g. fatty acid alkyl esters, from soapstock comprising soaps (salts of fatty acids). In alternative embodiments, the invention provides methods and industrial processes for generating free fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives from a soapstock comprising soaps by combining the feedstock with one or more reactants to form a reaction mixture and reacting the mixture at a temperature and pressure sufficient to provide for the acidification of the soaps.
COMPLETE SAPONIFICATION AND ACIDULATION OF NATURAL OIL PROCESSING BYPRODUCTS AND TREATMENT OF REACTION PRODUCTS
The present invention generally provides a process for treating a soapstock. The present invention more particularly provides systems and methods for treating a soapstock to generate free fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, e.g. fatty acid alkyl esters. The present invention more particularly provides systems and methods for realizing the full fatty acid yield of a soapstock by first converting substantially all of the saponifiable material in a soapstock to salts of fatty acids (soaps) and acidulating the soaps to generate free fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, e.g. fatty acid alkyl esters, wherein the soapstock comprises soaps and saponifiable lipids, e.g. glycerides and/or phospholipids, and the generating of free fatty acids and/or fatty acid is achieved without the use of a mineral acid.
Method for Producing DHA-Containing Glyceride-Containing Composition
A method for producing a composition containing a DHA-containing glyceride, including a step of obtaining a composition containing a DHA-containing glyceride, in which an esterification reaction is conducted by reacting a lipase with a raw material oil and fat containing highly unsaturated fatty acid as a constituent fatty acid in the presence of water and a lower alcohol to give a composition containing a DHA-containing glyceride, wherein a reaction liquid in the reaction has a water content of 0.4% by mass or more, and wherein the composition containing a DHA-containing glyceride has an acid value of 12 or less.
Partial calcification of free fatty acid mixtures, livestock feed compositions including them, and methods of making same
The present invention includes a nutritional supplement composition that may be used for livestock and the like, as well as to a livestock feed mixture containing same. Also included are methods of preparing the nutritional supplement composition, the livestock feed mixture, as well as methods of providing nutrition to livestock and the like. The livestock feed composition comprises: (a) a solid particulate livestock feed material and (b) a solidified particulate mixture of (i) free fatty acid and (ii) a calcium salt of a fatty acid, the calcium salt of a fatty acid being present in a molar ratio amount in the range of from about 25% to about 55% of the amount of the free fatty acid. The preferred mixture is a solid having an onset melt point of between about 140 and 170 degrees Fahrenheit, and a hardness of from about 5 to about 15 Shore A units at 170 degrees Fahrenheit.
HYDROPHOBING EMULSION COMPRISING TRIGLYCERIDE WAX
Hydrophobing emulsion for use in the manufacture of composite wood panels and methods of formulating same. The hydrophobing emulsion comprising triglyceride wax in alkaline aqueous phase, having a free fatty acid content of at least 0.3 w/w % relative to total amount of triglyceride wax, wherein the triglyceride wax has a high drop melt point (DMP) and a low iodine value (IV), and wherein the emulsion is formed at a temperature above the DMP of the triglyceride wax and maintained at a temperature above the DMP of the triglyceride wax until use.
FORMULATION TO SOLIDIFY COOKING OIL OR GREASE AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
