Device and method for producing fuel efficient candles configured with helical wicks
10234135 · 2019-03-19 ·

Helical wick candle and method of manufacturing this candle. The candle typically comprises a candle with meltable fuel such as wax, and at least one helical wick with a helical radius of at least or greater. This helical wick is configured so that as the candle burns, the burning tip of the wick doesn't remain stationary, but rather circles the axis of the wick so as to burn more of the wax than would otherwise be possible with a prior art straight wick candle, at least when the diameter of the candle is larger than the pool of melted wax surrounding the wick. This results in higher fuel burning efficiency, often 1.5 or higher, as well as various interesting artistic shapes as the wick burns. Various wick sheath methods to improve the rigidity and burn resistance of the wick during the burning process are also discussed.

Wax compositions and the effect of metals on burn rates

A wax composition is disclosed, comprising a hydrogenated natural oil with (i) at least about 50 wt % of a triacylglycerol component having a fatty acid composition from about 14 to about 25 wt % C16:0 fatty acid, about 45 to about 60 wt % C18:1 fatty acid and about 20 to about 30 wt % C18:0 fatty acid, (ii) a nickel content of less than 1 ppm, and (iii) a melt point of about 49? C. to about 57? C. The hydrogenated natural oil is filtered and/or bleached to obtain a nickel content of less than 0.5 ppm. A candle is also disclosed, comprising a wick and the above described wax.

Candle Creating Kit

A candle creating kit includes a vase, a first container containing a liquid resin, a second container containing a gel wax, a third container containing a powder is comprised of a light reflecting material and a fourth container containing a liquid pigment. The liquid resin and the gel wax are poured into the vase in alternating layers and a desired amount of the power and pigment are mixable into the resin. A block of candle wax is heatable into a fluid wax which can be poured into the vase. A wick is insertable into the fluid wax before the fluid wax hardens thereby facilitating the fluid wax to be burned in the wick when the wick is ignited to illuminate the immediate area around the vase.

Lipid-based wax compositions substantially free of fat bloom and methods of making

Lipid-based wax compositions and their methods of making are provided for compositions substantially free of fat bloom. The compositions comprise 0.1-10 percent by weight triacylglycerides, 30-95 percent by weight monoacylglycerides and diacylglycerides combined, and 0.1-65 percent by weight fatty acids. The methods comprise blending the monoacylglycerides, diacylglycerides, triacylglycerides, and fatty acids by heating the lipid-based wax composition at a sufficiently high temperature to destroy substantially all crystal structure within the lipid-based wax composition. The methods further comprise pouring the lipid-based wax composition into a mold or a container having a surface and a core, wherein the pouring is conducted at a temperature at least 15 C. greater than the congeal point of the lipid-based wax composition. The methods further comprise cooling the lipid-based wax composition under conditions sufficient to cool the core to at least 5 C. below the congeal point of the lipid-based wax composition in 30-90 minutes.

An array of breakable wax melts is provided. The array includes a first breakable wax melt having a first shape that corresponds with a first theme. The array also includes a second breakable wax melt having a second shape that is different from the first shape, wherein the second shape corresponds to a second theme. The first and second themes are each selected from the group consisting of: a perfume mixture, holiday, season, a graphic on a container for containing the first or second breakable wax melts, and combinations thereof. An array of containers for containing the breakable wax melts is also provided.

METHOD OF MAKING A SELF-FILLING CANDLE
20240263101 · 2024-08-08 · ·

A method of manufacturing self-filling candles uses a pour table and with cylindrical cavities and removable, insertable cores. The self-filling candle fills itself with melted wax to form a second candle for additional burning. The shape of the self-filling candle generally includes a hollow cylindrical candle body with the internal cavity having a solid bottom wall and extending upward to a top opening. The candle body is made of a single wax. A first wick is spirally located along the inside surface of the cylindrical sidewall, with its inner surface exposed. As the first wick is burned, melted wax pools in the cavity to form a second candle. A second wick, e.g., a wooden wick, is positioned in the bottom surface of the cavity, and is burned once the second candle has been formed. The manufacturing method is capable of making multiple self-filling candles with the first and the second wicks molded in place without the need for additional labor.

CANDLE CONVERSION DEVICE
