A bag-shaped cell culture vessel of a closed system includes at least one port and mutually opposed planar substrates. At least one of the planar substrates is formed of a gas permeable film, the at least one gas permeable film has an outer surface provided with a protruding portion having a shape different from an inner surface shape of the gas permeable film, a culture space for culturing cells is provided in the inner surface side of the gas permeable film, and when the gas permeable film is brought in contact with a planar surface, a space enabling ventilation is formed between the gas permeable film and the planar surface by the protruding portion.

ABRASION RESISTANT FILM FOR BIOCONTAINERS

A biocontainer film enhanced with an abrasion resistant or “cut-proof” substrate. Such substrates can be combined with current biocontainer materials, via various techniques of embedding, coextrusion or laminating, to maintain the cleanliness and low extractables already validated for biotech manufacturing. The substrate of choice may be constructed from materials known to be more resistant to abrasion and sharp razor type cuts or from materials oriented in such a way to prevent puncture to occur. The new substrate must also be flexible to allow for typical folding as demonstrated by current packaging practices. The new substrate may be constructed from materials other than polymers such as metal, glass or carbon or in combination with polymers. A non-constrained pressure test is also disclosed.

A variable diameter bioreactor vessel is provided that includes a first vessel section having a first diameter configured to hold a liquid media and biologic material, and a second vessel section having a second diameter that is greater than the first diameter such that the liquid media can be increased from a first volume to a second volume within the vessel.

Regulated vacuum off-gassing of gas filter for fluid processing system and related methods

A method for filtering a gas includes delivering a gas into a compartment of a gas filter assembly; applying a partial vacuum to the gas filter assembly so that the partial vacuum assists in drawing the gas through a porous filter body of the gas filter assembly that is at least partially disposed within the compartment of the gas filter assembly; and regulating the application of the partial vacuum based on a pressure reading of the gas upstream or downstream of the gas filter assembly.

Shaft-Mounted Fluid Transfer Assembly for a Disosable Bioreactor

A fluid transfer assembly for single use bioreactors includes a fluid transfer housing that can be mounted to the impeller shaft using a bearing that places the fluid transfer assembly directly below the lowest impeller but allows the impeller shaft to spin inside independently of the fluid transfer assembly. A fluid conduit connects the fluid transfer housing to a port in the single use bag wall which allows fluids to be introduced into the sparger and which also helps prevent the fluid transfer assembly from rotating with the impeller shaft.
