System and method for thermophilic anaerobic digester process
An anaerobic digestion system is provided that includes a blend tank operable to control and perform pre-treatment of feedstock. An anaerobic digester is operable to digest the feedstock provided from the blend tank in a totally enclosed oxygen-free environment within a specific temperature range. A bio-mass tank processes liquid digestate from the anaerobic digester. One or more baffles are positioned in the digester, with the one or more baffles providing for plug flow through at least a portion of the digester to create baffled zones that are at least partially operable independently of adjacent baffled zones. A bio-mass tank processes liquid digestate from the anaerobic digester. An energy source is coupled to the anaerobic digester.
Animal meal that includes fungal biomass
Disclosed herein are compositions comprising an isolated cellulose degrading fungus. Also disclosed are culture compositions and bioreactor compositions comprising the cellulose degrading fungus. Further described herein are filtration and extraction devices comprising the cellulose degrading fungus. Still further disclosed are bioprocessing facilities for and methods for producing co-products resulting from one or more bioprocesses of the cellulose degrading fungus.
PELLETS USED IN CELL CULTURE AND METHODS OF MAKING THEREOF
The present invention is directed generally to dry cell culture media or feeds in pellet formats which can be reconstituted into liquid media for culturing cells in vitro. Each pellet composition may comprise the same or a different composition; for example, different vitamins, amino acids, buffers, trace salts, pH, iron chelators, etc. The invention also relates to methods of making dry cell culture media by altering ratios of different pellet compositions, or, methods of making modular dry cell culture media, or customizing media formulations for growing a cell type using pellets. According to the invention, media pellets may be easier to handle either before reconstitution, during shipping and handling; and/or during reconstitution. Media pellets may be used in any container like bags including sterile, single use bags for preparing media formulations. The invention also relates to kits and culture systems using media pellets.
Airlift Reactor Assembly with Helical Sieve Plate
The present invention discloses an airlift reactor assembly with a helical sieve plate, comprising a reaction tank, wherein a draft tube and a gas sparger are assembled in the reaction tank, the gas sparger is arranged just below an riser section of the draft tube, a helical sieve plate is arranged in the riser section of the draft tube, and a body of the helical sieve plate is helical upwards to guide a part of two/three-phase flow in the riser section, and the body of the helical sieve plate is provided with a plurality of sieve meshes to guide the remaining two/three-phase go through the helical sieve plate in the riser section and to break bubbles. The present invention gives consideration to both macroscopic mixing and microscopic mixing processes. In addition to driving liquid to circularly flow by using ejected gas, the helical sieve plate can be used for breaking large bubbles into small bubbles thereby effectively preventing the bubbles from coalescing, increasing gas holdup and increasing a volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient.
Heat Transfer Baffle System and Uses Thereof
This disclosure describes an improved heat transfer system for use in reaction vessels used in chemical and biological processes. In one embodiment, a heat transfer baffle comprising two sub-assemblies adjoined to one another is provided.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REDUCING TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS (TDS) IN WASTEWATER BY AN ALGAL BIOFILM TREATMENT
A system for reducing total dissolved solids in wastewater can include a vertical reactor that can include a flexible sheet material, where the flexible sheet material can be configured to facilitate the growth and attachment of an algal biofilm. The vertical reactor can include a shaft, where the shaft can be associated with and can support the flexible sheet material, and a drive motor, where the drive motor can be coupled with the shaft such that the flexible sheet material can be selectively actuated. The system can include a fluid reservoir containing a portion of wastewater through which the flexible sheet material is configured to pass as well as a stressor operably configured to stimulate the algae to produce an extracellular polymeric substance. A method of reducing total dissolved solids in wastewater includes moving an algal biofilm through the wastewater and moving the algal biofilm through a gas.
DISPOSABLE BIOREACTOR SYSTEM
A cylindrical or annular polymeric bioreactor is disclosed which provides enhanced mixing and aeration of the growth medium while simultaneously offering reduced mechanical shear force.
Alternating ionic magnetic resonance (AIMR) multiple-chambered culture apparatus
Provided herein are a culture apparatus, culture systems and an alternating ionic magnetic resonance electromagnetic chamber for culturing cells, tissues or organoid bodies or for delivering a pulsating alternating ionic magnetic resonance field to an object of interest including the above or to an animal, human or plant. The culture apparatus comprises a culture unit having growth and nutrient modules and a randomizing adapter to continually randomize the gravity vector in the growth module. The culture systems further comprise the alternating ionic magnetic resonance electromagnetic chamber.
ALGAE SCRUBBER WITH DIRECTED WATER FLOW
A water filtering system is provided for growing algae that filters the water. The system may include a container having a cylindrical inner surface and an opening at one end of the container. A clear central core including a cavity may be disposed inside the container and a light source may be disposed inside the cavity of the clear central core. A screen mesh may be disposed inside the container such that a surface of the screen mesh is parallel to the cylindrical inner surface of the container. The system may include an inlet configured to route water into the container and an outlet configured to route water from the container. A lid may cover the opening of the container.
Large horizontal device for continuous methane fermentation and method thereof
A large-type horizontal device and a method for continuous methane fermentation. The whole distribution of a fermentation compartment uses a U-shape plane layout, which is a snap-back type and uses a material propeller. The material propeller has two axes and two blades and is constantly occluded with counter rotation. The irreversible propulsion of materials can be realized through counter rotation of two occluded blades. The propeller is set at the bottom of the main partition of the fermentation compartment. The propel ability of propeller can be changed through changing of rotation speed. Counter rotation of two occluded blades can realize material propeller without material reverting. The inlet and outlet entrances of the reactor in the disclosure are near to the ground and can be operated conveniently. The homogeneous output of materials and entire plug-flow can be realized at the same time without material mixing in the whole process.
