CONTINUOUS PERFUSION BIOREACTOR SYSTEM

Systems and methods for containing and manipulating liquids, including vessels and unit operations or components of cell culture, cell containment, bioreactor, and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing systems, are provided. In certain embodiments, such vessels and unit operations are directed to continuous perfusion reactor or bioreactor systems and may include one or more disposable components. For instance, in one aspect, a system includes an apparatus in the form of a bioreactor for harvesting cells which produce one or more products. The apparatus may include a disposable, collapsible bag adapted for containing a liquid, the collapsible bag in fluid communication with a liquid-solids (e.g., cell) separation device. For example, an outlet of the collapsible bag may be connected to an inlet of the separation device, and an outlet of the separation device may be connected to an inlet of the collapsible bag for recycle. Accordingly, after separating the cells from the liquid in the separation device, the cells can be flowed back into the collapsible bag where they can be re-harvested. Meanwhile, product contained in the liquid can be collected in a separate container. The efficiency of product formation in such a system may be enhanced by using mixing systems described herein.

Single use bioreactor

A single-use bioreactor is provided. The single-use bioreactor may include a bioprocess container, a shell, at least one agitator, at least one sparger, at least one gas filter inlet port for the sparger(s) and headspace overlay, at least one fill port, at least one harvest port, at least one sample port, and at least one probe. In examples, at least one controller may monitor and control one or more parameters associated with the single-use bioreactor A method to cultivate and propagate mammalian cells is also provided. The method may include cultivating under suitable conditions and in a suitable culture medium in a first single-use bioreactor, transferring the medium containing the cells obtained by propagation from the at least one mammalian cell is into a second single-use bioreactor, transferring the medium containing the cells obtained by propagation from the at least one mammalian cell is into a third single-use bioreactor, and cultivating the cells in the third bioreactor.

Bioreactor system and method thereof

The present invention relates to bioreactor system and method thereof wherein support matrix (2) comprises at last one central shaft and plurality of peripheral shaft being radially surrounds central shaft. Arrays of discs (11) are mounted along the shaft by defining interspatial vicinities between two successive plates. Thus, discs mounted on peripheral shafts are rotated within the interspatial vicinity of discs of central shaft to ensures sufficient mixing and avoid stagnant fluidic zones which is created when discs are mounted closely apart from each other on shafts. Further, plurality of deflector vanes that are axially provided along the length of the central shaft to redirect substantially co-axial direction fluid flow into interior of culture vessel and more specifically towards the central axis. Thus, bioreactor system provides scalable and disposable bioreactor with efficient mixing and homogeneous conditions and thereby supports high density growth and maintenance of cells and other biological material.

CELL ACTIVATION REACTOR AND CELL ACTIVATION METHOD

A cell activation reactor and a cell activation method are provided. The cell activation reactor includes a body, a rotating part, an upper cover, a microporous film, and multiple baffles. The body has an accommodating space, which is suitable for accommodating multiple cells and multiple magnetic beads. The rotating part is disposed in the accommodating space and includes multiple impellers. The microporous film is disposed in the accommodating space and covers multiple holes of the accommodating space. The baffles are disposed in the body. When the rotating part is driven to rotate, the interaction between the baffles and the impellers separates the cells and the magnetic beads.

BIOREACTOR AND RELATED METHODS

An apparatus for culturing cells includes a bioreactor. The bioreactor may be modular and may include in a chamber a fixed bed, such as an unstructured or structured fixed bed (such as a spiral bed) for culturing cells, with a return column arranged centrally within the chamber. The modular bioreactor may include a plurality of structured fixed bed arranged in a stacked configuration. The modular bioreactor may include an outer casing forming a space for conditioning (e.g., insulating, heating, cooling) at least a chamber in which cells are cultured. The bioreactor may also include an impeller with radially curved blades, and may also suspend the impeller so that it may move from side-to-side and align with an external drive. Related methods are also disclosed.
