FLOW-PROMOTING DEVICE, A REACTOR ARRANGEMENT AND THE USE OF SUCH FLOW-PROMOTING DEVICE
20200009519 · 2020-01-09 ·

The invention refers to a flow-promoting device (100; 100; 100) for performing a biological or chemical transformation, or physical or chemical trapping from, or release of agents to, a fluidic medium. The flow-promoting device (100; 100; 100) comprises a ferromagnetic material (5) and a retaining structure (1; 1; 1), the retaining structure having a compartment (9; 9) defined by a permeable material (11; 11). The retaining structure (1; 1; 1) comprises a top wall (3; 3) and a circumferential side wall (4; 4), wherein the top wall (3; 3) and the circumferential side wall (4; 4) is formed mainly by said permeable material (11; 11). The compartment (9; 9) of the retaining structure (1; 1; 1) is arranged to contain at least one fluid-permeable solid reaction member.

Reactor having dynamic sparger

Systems and methods relating to dynamic spargers for generating fine bubbles within reactors such as biological and chemical reactors. A sparger system is positioned within a reactor and comprises a support plate, multiple annular shrouds engaged with the support plate, and spargers positioned within the annular shrouds defining a gap between an interior surface of the annular shroud and an exterior surface of the corresponding sparger. Liquid flows through the defined gap between an interior surface of the annular shroud and an exterior surface of the sparger. Acceleration of the liquid through the gap shears bubbles at the exterior surface of the sparger creating bubbles or fine bubbles.

BIOMASS MEMBRANE CONTACTOR

An assembly includes a housing with opposite first and second layers. The first and second layers are spaced apart to define a confined interior space. A semi-permeable membrane is attached to the first layer, the semi-permeable membrane covering a porous area portion of the first layer. An outlet port and an inlet port are in fluid communication with the interior space. The assembly includes a first circulator for circulating a first fluid between the outlet port and the inlet port, and a second circulator for circulating a second fluid along an exterior surface of the semi-permeable membrane. The second circulator includes a fluid duct attached to or integrated within the housing. The fluid duct is isolated from the interior space and is porous to provide fluid access to an exterior surface of the semi-permeable membrane. The semi-permeable membrane forms a barrier allowing exchange of compounds across the membrane.

FERMENTER FOR A LIQUID MEDIUM WITH GAS CIRCULATION STIRRING, COMPRISING AN AUTOMATIC DEVICE FOR ESTABLISHING A FLUID COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE ASCENDING CIRCULATION AND THE DESCENDING CIRCULATION VOLUMES DEPENDING ON THE HEIGHT OF THE MEDIUM
20180305653 · 2018-10-25 ·

The invention relates to a digester for a liquid medium, comprising a container, a dividing wall between two spaces, and a device for injecting gas into the lower part of one of the spaces. The gas creates an upflow of the mixture of liquid medium and injected gas in said space, and a downflow in the other space. The dividing wall is equipped with at least one device for establishing a fluid communication between the spaces, so that the fluid communication configuration is automatically varied between a first open configuration in which fluid can flow freely from one space to the other, and a second closed configuration in which the flow of fluid is blocked fully or partially by the aforementioned device.
