Synthesis of furans from sugars via keto intermediates

The present invention provides a method of preparing a furan derivative comprising the steps of (a) converting a monosaccharide to provide a keto-intermediate product; and (b) dehydrating the keto-intermediate product to provide a furan derivative; wherein the keto-intermediate product is pre-disposed to forming keto-furanose tautomers in solution. The method may further comprising a step of oxidizing the furan derivative to provide a furandicarboxylic acid or a furandicarboxylic acid derivative.

Brachiaria endophytes and related methods

The present invention relates to endophytes, in particular endophytes associated with plants of the Brachiaria-Urochloa species complex, plants infected with the endophytes, products produced by the endophytes, and related methods.

RESTORER PLANTS

Hybrid cereals are described which are obtained by restoring the pollen fertility for the Pampa cytoplasmic male sterility (P-CMS) and which are characterized by a reduced linkage drag. Plants are provided, in particular rye, which, as the male pollen parent, are capable of restoring the pollen fertility for the P-CMS. Furthermore, the nucleic acid molecule which carries the necessary information for restoring the P-CMS, DNA and vectors which contain such a nucleic acid molecule, corresponding host cells as well as a protein which can be encoded by the nucleic acid molecule and antibodies directed against it are also described. Furthermore, methods for the production of corresponding hybrid plants and transgenic plants are provided.

METHODS FOR PRODUCING BIOMASS RICH IN DHA, PALMITIC ACID AND PROTEIN USING A EUKARYOTIC MICROORGANISM

Provided herein are eukaryotic microorganisms having a simple lipid profile comprising long chain fatty acids (LCFAs). Also provided are compositions and cultures comprising the eukaryotic microorganisms as well as methods of using the eukaryotic microorganisms.

Aureobasidium pullulans strains with high-yield heavy oil and construction method and application thereof

An Aureobasidium pullulans recombinant strain with high-yield heavy oil and a construction method and application thereof are provided. The Aureobasidium pullulans recombinant strain is obtained by knocking out a pullulan synthetase PUL gene while overexpressing an ACL gene. The obtained Aureobasidium pullulans recombinant strain can significantly increase the yield of heavy oil. After 7-day fermentation with xylose as carbon source, the yield of the heavy oil of the recombinant strain reaches 19.4372 g/L, while the yield of the heavy oil of the original strain is 10.0325 g/L, i.e. the recombinant strain improves the yield by 93.74% compared with the original strain.

PHOSPHATE-SOLUBILZING FUNGAL STRAINS

The present disclosure provides novel fungal strains capable of solubilizing phosphate, as well as compositions and methods of using those strains to increase the amount/concentration of soluble phosphate in a medium that comprises insoluble phosphate.

Method for producing fermented coffee using enteric bacteria of Kopi Luwak
11344043 · 2022-05-31 ·

The present invention relates to a method for producing fermented and vacuum-treated coffee using Kopi Luwak enterobacteria, in which the coffee contains a low concentration of caffeine and a high concentration of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA). According to the present invention, the fermented and vacuum-treated coffee produced using Kopi Luwak enterobacteria according to the present invention has advantages in that it is produced by rapid fermentation, uniquely smells like caramel, chocolate, grass, etc., unlike unfermented green coffee beans, and has a reduced bitter taste and a deep and heavy taste with an appropriate sour taste.
