METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR GENERATING DOMINANT SHORT STATURE ALLELES USING GENOME EDITING
The present disclosure provides compositions and methods for altering gibberellin (GA) content in corn or other cereal plants. Methods and compositions are also provided for altering the expression of genes related to gibberellin biosynthesis through editing of specific subtypes of GA20 oxidase genes to introduce an antisense sequence or segment into the gene. Modified plant cells and plants having a dominant allele reducing the expression or activity of one or more GA oxidase genes are further provided comprising reduced gibberellin levels and improved characteristics, such as reduced plant height and increased lodging resistance, but without off-types.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR GENERATING DOMINANT SHORT STATURE ALLELES USING GENOME EDITING
The present disclosure provides compositions and methods for altering gibberellin (GA) content in corn or other cereal plants. Methods and compositions are also provided for altering the expression of genes related to gibberellin biosynthesis through editing of a specific GA20 oxidase gene or locus to produce a genomic deletion or disruption that brings an antisense sequence of the GA20 oxidase gene under the control of a neighboring SAMT gene promoter. Modified plant cells and plants having a dominant allele reducing the expression or activity of one or more GA oxidase genes are further provided comprising reduced gibberellin levels and improved characteristics, such as reduced plant height and increased lodging resistance, but without off-types.
SYNTHESIS OF LONG-CHAIN POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS BY RECOMBINANT CELL
The present invention relates to methods of synthesizing long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially eicosapentaenoic acid, docosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, in recombinant cells such as yeast or plant cells. Also provided are recombinant cells or plants which produce long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a group of new enzymes which possess desatorase or elongase activity that can be used in methods of synthesizing long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids.
MODIFICATION OF PLANT LIPIDS CONTAINING PUFAS
The present invention generally is concerned with the modification of plant lipids containing PUFAs. In this context, the invention is particularly concerned with plants and plant materials for such modifications, wherein the plants preferably are oilseed plants. Regarding plant parts, the invention is particularly concerned with seeds of such plants and preferably seeds of oilseed plants. The invention is also concerned with plant positions obtainable or obtained by the modification method of the invention, and with full stuff of feedstuff comprising such liquid compositions.
Identification of Porcine Xenoantigens
Provided herein are genetically modified pigs, porcine organs, tissue, and cells having a reduced propensity to cause a rejection response in a human subject following xenotransplantation. In particular, provided herein are genetically modified pigs lacking nonGal xenoantigens, and porcine cells, tissues, and organs obtained from such genetically modified pigs that are suitable for transplantation into a human. Also provided herein are methods of improving a rejection related symptom in a human subject.
PEPTIDE-DERIVED THERAPEUTICS TARGETING KDM5C FOR THE TREATMENT OF CANCER
The present invention relates to treatment of cancer. In particular, the present invention relates to peptides that bind KDM5C for the treatment of cancer.
FLAVONE 7-O-METHYLTRANSFERASE GENE AND USE FOR SAME
Provided is: a transgenic plant that has a modified flower color; a self- or cross-fertilized descendant of the transgenic plant; or a propagule, a portion of a plant body, tissue, or cells from the transgenic plant or the self- or cross-fertilized descendant of the transgenic plant. The present invention causes both anthocyanin delphinidin and a flavone C-glycoside that is methylated at the hydroxyl group at the 7 position to be present in the cells of a plant.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING COLLAGEN 7 COMPOSITIONS
The present disclosure provides production systems and host cells to produce collagen 7 compositions comprising recombinant collagen 7 and/or functional variants thereof. The host cells are genetically engineered to stably express rCol7 and functional variants thereof. The collagen 7 composition can be used to restore collagen 7 levels in a subject in need, and for preventing, preventing the progression of, alleviating, and delaying the on-set of a skin condition, e.g., skin wound associated with dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB).
METHOD FOR PRODUCING HIGH VALUE-ADDED COMPOUNDS FROM POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE
The present invention pertains to a method for producing high value-added compounds from polyethylene terephthalate. More specifically, the present invention demonstrates that a monomeric terephthalic acid obtained from the chemical hydrolysis of polyethylene terephthalate can be converted to high value-added aromatic compounds and aromatic-derived compounds, and ethylene glycol, which is another monomer of polyethylene terephthalate, can be converted to glycolic acid, which is a cosmetic material. The present invention is characterized by recycling polyethylene terephthalate waste into high value-added compounds.
Method and system for picture segmentation using columns
Described is picture segmentation through columns and slices in video encoding and decoding. A video picture is divided into a plurality of columns, each column covering only a part of the video picture in a horizontal dimension. All coded tree blocks (“CTBs”) belonging to a slice may belong to one or more columns. The columns may be used to break the same or different prediction or in-loop filtering mechanisms of the video coding, and the CTB scan order used for encoding and/or decoding may be local to a column. Column widths may be indicated in a parameter set and/or may be adjusted at the slice level. At the decoder, column width may be parsed from the bitstream, and slice decoding may occur in one or more columns.
