APPARATUS FOR CONVERTIBLE AND SELECTABLE MATTRESS FIRMNESS
Provided for is a mattress comprising a first layer comprising a first firm layer and a first soft layer, a second layer comprising a second firm layer and a second soft layer, where the second layer and the first layer are in horizontal adjacent contact. The mattress may further comprise a base layer comprising a base top layer and a base bottom layer, where the base layer and the first layer are in vertical adjacent contact, and where the base layer and the second layer are in vertical adjacent contact. The mattress may further comprise a cover comprising a cover top, a cover bottom, and a zipper, where the zipper may separate the cover top from the cover bottom, where a band may be disposed on an inside surface of the cover top, where the band may mask a gap between the first layer and the second layer.
Furniture spring system
A furniture spring system includes a lid configured to provide a seating surface. The lid includes a frame having two opposing frame members and a retention member associated with at least one of the two opposing frame members. The furniture spring system further includes a slat extending between the two opposing frame members. The slat includes a plurality of slat portions adjustably coupled to each other, such that a total length of the slat is adjustable.
Mattress
A foam mattress in which a layer of latex or latex-like foam placed above a layer of memory foam is described. This construction of the mattress provides the contouring pressure relief that a visco-elastic foam provides with a top surface with quick recovery (a latex-like “bounce”) that prevents people from getting “stuck” in the visco-elastic foam and improves the springiness of the mattress. The mattress may also include straps and cinches to aid in transportation of the mattress. The mattress may also include removable covers that aid in keeping the mattress clean.
Mattress assembly
Mattress assemblies that provide user comfort and increased airflow generally include a viscoelastic thermally conductive infused polyurethane foam top layer; a composite comprising a bottom layer, a molded viscoelastic middle foam layer, and a perforated top viscoelastic foam layer, wherein the molded viscoelastic middle foam layer comprises a plurality of interconnected substantially parallelpipedal bodies, wherein each parallelpipedal body includes an opening extending from a bottom surface to a top surface and is separated from an adjacent parallelpipedal body by a V-shaped notch, and wherein the perforated top viscoelastic foam layer comprises a plurality of perforations extending from a bottom surface to a top surface thereof, wherein at least a portion of the perforations overlies the opening in the parallelpipedal bodies; and a base core layer, wherein the composite overlies the base core layer.
SHAPED BODY WITH A HEATING ELEMENT MADE TO HEAT POLYURETHANE FOAM
A shaped body including at least one section of a polyurethane foam. The shaped body includes a temperature-regulating device arranged in thermal contact with the at least one section of the polyurethane foam and a control device for the temperature-regulating device adapted to adjust the firmness of the at least one section of the polyurethane foam by alteration of temperature of the at least one section of the polyurethane foam this device being in “S” shape. The shaped body is used as a bed or mattress for promoting sleep in one application.
SYSTEM FOR SUPPORTING THE HUMAN BODY, OR A HUMAN BODY SEGMENT, PROVIDED WITH AN IMPROVED CUSHIONING ARRANGEMENT
A support system for the human body, or a human body segment, is provided. The system comprises a covering lining in which a plurality of pockets is defined in which there are inserted one or more filling elements forming together a cushioning arrangement of the support system. Filling elements with different physical properties, for example different stiffnesses, are inserted in the different pockets of the covering lining. The pockets may be independent of one another and removably connected to one another, so that they can be combined with one another in the way that best adapts to the specific morphology of a single user. The support system can be made, for example, in the form a cushion, a seat, a backrest, a mattress or with any other shape that may be desired.
Bedding or Seating Product Having Topper With At Least One Thermally Enhanced Foam Component
A three-layered topper for a bedding or seating product has a first piece of foam, a second piece of foam and a pocketed spring comfort layer therebetween. The pocketed spring comfort layer has individually pocketed mini coil springs. At least one of the foam pieces may be infused with metallic particles to improve thermal conductivity. Alternatively, at least one of the foam pieces may be infused with microencapsulated phase change materials to improve heat absorption. At least one of the foam pieces may have a coating to further improve thermal conductivity or heat absorption.
Patient support apparatus with magnetorheological material
A patient support apparatus is provided with selective stiffening features. The patient support apparatus may include a support substrate defining a patient support surface. The support substrate may include a magnetorheological material providing selective reinforcement support of at least a portion of the patient support surface to redistribute pressure about a surface of a patient. The magnetorheological material may include a distribution of ferromagnetic particles disposed within a polymeric material and exhibits a shape conforming, variable stiffness in response to exposure to a magnetic field. A controller may be provided and configured to create a correlation of patient specific data with an optimal stiffness or inflection force deflection (IFD) of the patient support surface, and generate a strength of the magnetic field based on the correlation.
Mattress assembly
A mattress assembly includes a first layer of viscoelastic foam defining an upper surface, and a second layer of non-viscoelasiic foam supporting the first layer. The mattress assembly also includes a plurality of static spring elements positioned beneath the upper surface for enhancing a firmness of the combined first and second layers.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CUSTOMIZING A MATTRESS
A mattress is disclosed. The mattress includes a first layer, a second layer supported on the first layer and arranged abutting the first layer, and a third layer having a substantially arch shape. The third layer includes a first portion embedded inside the first layer and a second portion at least partially embedded inside the second layer.
