A mattress includes a foam layer positioned over a platform including a bladder having top and bottom surface joined by threads such that upon inflation the platform stiffens due to strain locking. The foam layer may include an upper layer and a lower layer that is firmer than the upper layer. The foam layer may include a polyurethane foam, such as memory foam. Zipper portions on the edges of the platform may secure to zipper portions on edges of the foam layer. Feet removably mount to a lower surface of the platform, which may include protrusions or straps for securing to the feet. The platform layer may be deflated and rolled with the foam layer for transport and storage.

Mattresses including an elastomeric cushioning element and a pocketed coil layer and related methods

A mattress assembly includes a base layer, a coil layer disposed over the base layer, an upper layer disposed over the coil layer, and an elastomeric cushioning element disposed over the upper layer. The coil layer may include a plurality of pocketed coils. Furthermore, the elastomeric cushioning element may have a thickness within a range of about 2.0 inches to about 4.5 inches. Furthermore, the elastomeric cushioning element may form between about 15.0% and about 32.0% of an overall thickness of the mattress assembly. A method of forming a mattress assembly includes disposing a coil layer over a base layer, disposing an upper layer over the coil layer, disposing an elastomeric cushioning element over the upper layer, and disposing an outer covering over at least the upper layer.

An array of linear foam strips designed to be vertically stacked with their linear axes parallel and vertically aligned under a region of a mattress that requires a raised contour on its top face to alleviate a medical condition or to repair a sag in the mattress. The foam strip arrays come in 24 or 32 inch lengths to correspond to the width of standard mattress. Each linear foam strip has a different width but none of the strips are within 25% of the width of any other foam strip. The widths of the four different foam strips in the array has been carefully sized to allow the best possible combinations to develop the proper height and side slope of the contour developed in the mattress's top face.

A mattress assembly generally includes an orthotic layer generated from a deformation map associated with a particular end user and process of manufacturing he mattress assembly. The orthotic layer is rigid and flexible and minimizes pressure points relative the mattress assembly without the orthotic layer.

Pocketed spring assembly including cushion pads and buckling members

A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of springs, each string joined to at least one adjacent string, each string comprising one piece of fabric folded into first and second opposed plies. Outer pockets are formed along each string by transverse seams joining the first and second plies. One pocketed spring, at least cushion pad and at least one buckling member are positioned in each outer pocket. At least one cushion pad, at least one buckling member or any combination thereof may be individually pocketed inside an outer pocket.

The invention relates to a mattress comprising at least one layer (31) having a multiplicity of elastic elevations. Said elastic elevations together form at least one supporting surface for the user of the mattress.

According to the invention, the elastic elevations are designed, or arranged, such that an uneven supporting surface is formed.

At least two types of elastic elevations with different elasticity are preferably provided. The elastic elevations are formed in particular on elastic bodies (21, 22, 23, 24), wherein each elastic elevation can be formed on a respective elastic body.
