SOD1 dual expression vectors and uses thereof
In some aspects, the disclosure relates to compositions and methods useful for inhibiting SOD1 expression in cells (e.g., cells of a subject). In some embodiments, the disclosure describes isolated nucleic acids engineered to express an inhibitory nucleic acid targeting endogenous SOD1 and an mRNA encoding a hardened SOD1 protein. In some embodiments, compositions and methods described by the disclosure are useful for treating Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in a subject.
Composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases, containing, as active ingredient, stem cells overexpressing SOD3
The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases, containing, as an active ingredient, stem cells overexpressing SOD3. The present inventor has ascertained that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) overexpressing SOD3 have a stronger antioxidant activity and immune regulatory function than normal MSCs, and thus the MSCs overexpressing SOD3 can be an effective treatment agent for inflammatory diseases, autoimmune diseases, organ transplant rejection and the like.
BIOMARKERS USEFUL IN THE TREATMENT OF SUBJECTS HAVING DISEASES OF THE EYE
The present invention provides biomarkers of oxidative stress in subjects with retinitis pigmentosa, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, Fuchs' dystrophy, diabetic macular edema (DME), geographic atrophy, Stargardt's disease, or retinal vein occlusion (RVO), and their use in identifying subjects in need of treatment and methods for staging the severity of the disease.
Tethering Cysteine Residues Using Cyclic Disulfides
Described herein are compounds and methods for tethering proteins. For example, dimers of proteins, including SOD1 and DJ-1, are described, where the dimers are formed by the covalent bonding of a cysteine on the first monomer to a cysteine on the second monomer via a cyclic disulfide linker. The covalently attached dimers exhibit increased stabilization.
Zinc Finger Protein-Superoxide Dismutase Fusion Protein With Cell Membrane Penetrating Property
The present disclosure belongs to the field of biotechnology, and particularly relates to a zinc finger protein-superoxide dismutase fusion protein with a cell membrane penetrating property, and a preparation and an application thereof. A domain of the fusion protein described in the present disclosure comprises a zinc finger protein and superoxide dismutase, and the fusion protein can enter cells to exert an antioxidant activity.
Joint Health Composition and Use Thereof in Healthy Mammals
The present disclosure is directed to a method and composition for improving at least one of joint pain, muscle pain, or fitness in healthy mammals. The method and composition include administering a supplement that includes a type II collagen and a SOD enriched supplement to a healthy mammal that is undergoing or has undergone physical activity or intensive physical activity.
MODULATORY POLYNUCLEOTIDES
The invention relates to compositions and methods for the preparation, manufacture and therapeutic use of modulatory polynucleotides.
EXTRAHEPATIC DELIVERY
The invention relates to a method of gene silencing, comprising administering to a cell or a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of the lipophilic moieties-conjugated double-stranded iRNAs at one or more internal positions on at least one strand, optionally via a linker or carrier.
Method of Improving Resilience and Recovery in Healthy Mammals
The present disclosure is directed to a method of improving at least one of resilience and recovery in healthy mammals undergoing intensive physical activity. The method includes administering a SOD enriched supplement to the healthy mammal during a term of intensive physical activity. The term can be long term or short term, and the mammal can be a healthy trained mammal.
SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS
The present disclosure is drawn to superoxide dismutase (SOD) compositions and methods thereof. A composition can comprise a combination of a therapeutically effective amount of superoxide dismutase (SOD) with a stabilizing carrier. The SOD can be provided by a natural source that can be a botanical source. A method of treating a condition in a subject that is responsive to treatment with superoxide dismutase (SOD) can comprise administering a therapeutically effective amount of the composition. A method of stabilizing a superoxide dismutase (SOD) composition can comprise combining an amount of SOD with deoxygenated water to form an SOD solution and minimizing exposure of the SOD solution to reactive oxygen species (ROS).
