ADAPTABLE AND ADJUSTABLE GROUND-CONTACT OPERATED WEED PULLING DEVICE
20230200273 · 2023-06-29 ·

A weeding device provides leverage for pulling a deeply-rooted plant from soil without requiring excessive foot pressure for operation. A handle is attached to a weeder head having a first fork extending away from the end of the handle. A rotating jaw is mounted to the weeder head, and has a second fork displaced from the first fork when the second fork are parallel. The weeding device has a step for applying foot pressure to insert the first and second forks in the soil prior. A lever extension of the rotating jaw on an opposite side of the handle contacts the soil when the forks are fully inserted in the soil, and as the handle is rotated toward the soil a tip of the second fork inclines toward a tip of the first fork to close the first fork and the second fork around a plant.

A weeding device that allows a user to remove weeds, invasive plants, and other small items imbedded in dirt while in a standing position. The weeding device allows for the separation of penetrating and grasping forces so a user may remove fragile weeds from hard ground, tough weeds from soft ground, or any combination thereof with minimal disturbance and damage to the surrounding soil.

A weed cutting apparatus includes a handle coupled to a head at a distal end. The head has a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is proximal to the handle and the second end is distal thereto. The second end is formed and sharpened to form a blade with a plurality of tines extending from the blade. Alternatively, a bladed member may be an aftermarket attachment coupled via channels to a medial end of a plurality of tines on a pitchfork. As a result, any weed or object that passes through the plurality of tines is cut by the blade. In some examples, the first end of the head may have other working features, such as grooves or apertures for uprooting the roots of a severed weed.

A weed removal tool removes weeds, including substantially all of the weed's root structure, by applying consistent pressure to the weed and the weed's root structure. The weed removal tool includes a loop formed from loop material and comprising a degree of partial twist, a handle, an attachment means for securing the loop to the handle, and a removable attachment. The degree of partial twist corresponds to the ratio of the length of the loop material to the thickness of the loop material. A method of removing a weed using the weed removal tool includes engaging the weed with the loop of the weed removal tool, digging into the soil adjacent to a root structure of the weed, and removing the root structure of the weed.

A yard tool blade is provided with a distal edge to dig a work material, with a surface to support the work material and an adaptor at a proximal end for receipt of a handle. The distal edge is sharpened to an angle within a tolerance of forty to fifty degrees for a reduced thickness to cut the work material. A method for manufacturing the yard tool blade forms a yard tool blade blank. A cutting edge is machined on a distal edge of the yard tool blade blank. The yard tool blade blank is formed into a shaped yard tool blade. The shaped yard tool blade is heat treated after the cutting edge is machined on the distal edge.
