A dual-impeller spreader capable of independently a flowrate of particulate material about two halves of the spreader's coverage area. The spreader includes a frame, a hopper, and wheels rotatably connected to the frame via an axle. A first impeller is fixed to a first impeller shaft rotatably coupled to the axle via a first gear train, and a second impeller is fixed to a second impeller shaft rotatably coupled to the axle via a second gear train. A first shut-off control selectively opens and closes a first set of hopper exit openings located above the first impeller, while a second shut-off control selectively opens and closes a second set of hopper exit openings located above the second impeller. The first shut-off control and the second shut-off control selectively open and close the respective openings independent of each other.

The first and second members are moveable by relative movement into a first position providing the dosing opening with a first opening size and a second position, different from the first position, providing the dosing opening with a second opening size different from the first opening size, wherein a center portion of the dosing opening is locally fixed when the members are moved between the first and second positions.

Along the threaded spindle, a spindle nut is guided that engages with the threaded spindle. The spindle nut is connected to the metering slide, or to a lever arm arrange thereon, to actuate the metering slide by rotation of the threaded spindle.

A dry product spreader is provided that includes a bin that includes a bin discharge opening. The dry product spreader further includes a conveyor located at the bottom of the bin. The conveyor is capable of discharging dry product material from the bin through the bin discharge opening. The dry product spreader further includes a spinner assembly for spreading the dry product material and positioned to receive the dry product material from the bin discharge opening. The dry product spreader further includes a material conveyance system to displace dry product material received through the bin discharge opening before the dry product material reaches the spinner assembly. The dry product spreader further includes a distribution manifold configured to receive dry product material displaced by the material conveyance system. The distribution manifold is configured to return dry product material displaced by the material conveyance system to be spread by the spinner assembly.

The agricultural machine (100) comprises a number of sensor programming devices (110), each comprising a unique set of sensor programming instructions, and is arranged to comprise one single corresponding sensor device (120) for each of the sensor programming devices (110). Each sensor programming device (110) is mounted in a programming position (115) adjacent a sensor position (125) for the corresponding sensor device (120), and each sensor device (120) is arranged to be mounted in the sensor position (125) and automatically receive the sensor programming instructions from the corresponding sensor programming device (110). This ensures that if a sensor device (120) is moved from one sensor position (125) to another sensor position (125), it automatically receives a different set of programming instructions.

One method includes dispersing particulate material using a broadcast spreader having a hopper and an impeller by placing the spreader in a first configuration where a first set of through openings proximate a bottom portion of the hopper permit the particulate material to pass therethrough and fall onto the impeller to thereby be distributed in a first spread pattern, and shifting the spreader into a second configuration where a second set of through openings proximate the bottom portion of the hopper permit the particulate material to pass therethrough and fall onto the impeller to thereby be distributed in a second spread pattern. The first set of through openings includes a different number of through openings than the second set of through openings, and the first spread pattern is different than the second spread pattern.

An apparatus for broadcasting particulate or granular material over a ground surface involves a variable speed spinner and a material conveyor. The spinner is positioned generally horizontally below a discharge end of a material conveyor. The spinner has a disk having a generally radially disposed fin fixed to an upper side of the disk and radiating outwardly from a center of the disk. The spinner is positioned to receive material from the material conveyor at a location about half way along a length of the fin. In a method broadcasting particulate or granular material over a ground surface, the spinner is preferably rotated at a speed of 900-1000 rpm. The apparatus and method provide for distribution of material over greater distances and can do so without pulverizing the material, creating a uniform pattern of distribution over a 50% wider swath.
