A grain-singulating apparatus comprising, a metering chamber and a singulating disk arranged therein, at least one supply duct for feeding a singulating air flow generated by a blower into said metering chamber for the singulation of grains by way of said singulating disk, a conveying duct for supplying the grains stored in the storage container, in the form of a mixed grain/air flow generated by the blower, and a separating device for the separation of the grains from said mixed grain/air flow and for providing them via a seed chute to said singulating disk for singulation and for feeding the resulting extracted air flow via an extracted air duct separate from said supply duct to said grain-singulating apparatus for the singulation of the grains.

Described herein is a seed conveyor assembly that delivers seed to a planting surface in a controlled manner to maintain seed placement accuracy within a trench. In one embodiment, a seed guide for a seed conveyor assembly includes a relief portion and an introduction portion that includes at least one protrusion. The protrusion is angled from a side of the introduction portion toward the center of the introduction portion. The end of the protrusion is proximate the center of the introduction portion being further from the relief portion.

A dual seed metering device for seeds, grain or other granulate materials, powered by direct drive. More specifically, a dual seed metering device for sowing machines, driven by a single electric motor of the annular type, with a hollow shaft, which comprises two chambers or seed reservoirs, each being loaded with seeds of different types, the device being capable of selectively sowing seeds from one reservoir or the other, wherein selection of the type of seed is instantaneous and does not require stopping the equipment nor require manual mechanical adjustments.

A seed meter includes a seed disc rotatable in a direction of rotation. The seed disc has a plurality of seed apertures defining a circular path as the seed disc rotates and on which seeds from a seed source are entrained. A singulator is disposed along to the circular path. The singulator has a plurality of outer lobes and a first orientation lobe located downstream of the outer lobes. As the entrained seeds rotate along the circular path, the first orientation lobe contacts the entrained seeds to change their orientation. In some embodiments, the first orientation lobe may be disposed to remove excess seeds from the apertures and a second orientation lobe may change the orientation of the entrained seed.

An apparatus and methods for delivering seed from a metering device to a furrow. In one embodiment, a seed meter entrains and releases seed from a seed disc at a seed release location. A planting unit for a seeding machine having a frame member and a seed meter mounted thereto. The seed meter has a housing and a metering member rotatably mounted therein. The metering member has a sidewall with an inner surface and an outer surface with a rim portion of the sidewall adjacent an outer edge of the sidewall. The inner surface of the side wall and the housing form a trough at a bottom portion of the metering member to hold a seed pool. A mechanical seed delivery system takes seed from the metering member and moves seed to a discharge location adjacent a seed furrow formed in soil beneath the seeding machine.

A seed meter for an agricultural planter in which the seed disc is rotatably mounted within a seed meter housing. As the seed disc rotates, the apertures in the disc rotate along a seed aperture path through a horizontally adjacent seed pool area. The seed disc includes cavities disposed along the seed aperture path to agitate the seeds in the seed pool area. A singulator having multiple co-planar singulator surfaces is biased against the seed side surface of the seed disc.
