Variable rate air metering system

A variable rate air metering system is provided. The system includes seed meter cartridges, each having a housing, a meter wheel, and a variable speed electric motor operatively connected to the seed meter cartridge. The seed meter cartridges provide flowable material to distribution manifolds, which are configured to distribute flowable material to multiple row outputs for deposition into a field. A control system is configured to control operation of the distribution manifolds for enabling/disabling dispersement of flowable material to row units. The control system is also configured to adjust the dispersement rate of flowable material by the seed meter cartridges in association with the opening/disabling the dispersement of flowable material to row outputs.

Purging system for multiple variety seed meter

A purging system for a multiple variety seed meter of a multi-variety planter. The purging system includes seed return valves that may be arranged for receiving seed that was removed from the seed meter. The seed return valves return the removed seed into corresponding appropriate seed storage compartments to allow a new seed variety to be delivered to the seed meter while reducing seed variety mixing in the seed meter. A pipe with a purge passage may extend from the seed meter to a purging hose that delivers the removed seed to the seed return valve(s). Each seed return valve may be a vacuum-actuated piston airlock valve assembly with a valve plunger that reciprocates to define seed collecting and releasing states of the valve.

Sectional control method for use with an agricultural implement

A sectional control apparatus and method prompts the operator of an implement when the implement, or portion thereof, is traversing over land that has already been seeded and/or disturbed. The apparatus includes a GPS or GNSS receiver that communicates with a GPS or GNSS system and a controller that maps movement of the implement so that real-time positional data for the implement can be compared to the movement map. When the position of the implement, or portion thereof, is detected as moving over previously seeded and/or disturbed land, the controller activates an alert mechanism in the operator cab of the implement to notify the operator that sectional control, i.e., shutting down metering of product or raising the tool bar, needs to be implemented.

Automatic rank selection

A controller communicates with a user interface and sends a first signal to a first actuator to unlock a first lock, sends a second signal to move a first ground-engaging implement into a stowed position, sends a third signal to the first actuator to lock first lock to retain the first ground-engaging implement in the stowed position, sends a fourth signal to inhibit flow through a first hose with a flow blocking element, sends a fifth signal to a second actuator to unlock a second lock, sends a sixth signal to move a second ground-engaging implement into a deployed position, sends a seventh signal to the second actuator to lock the second lock to retain the second ground-engaging implement in the deployed position, and sends an eighth signal to a second flow blocking element to permit flow through a second hose around the flow blocking element.

Multiple variety seed meter of a planter for planting multiple seed varieties

A multiple variety seed meter for multi-variety row crop planting a segmented feed pipe system that may include a feed pipe with multiple passages that can be rotated to present one of multiple variety openings toward a seed pool in the seed meter to deliver a specific seed variety into the seed meter. The feed pipe may be an inner selector pipe concentrically nested for rotation in an outer sleeve that extends into the seed meter.

An assembly to distribute flowable particulate material, the assembly including: a conduit to which the material is delivered and to which an airstream is supplied to move the material along the conduit to a delivery downstream destination; material delivery means connected to the conduit for delivery of material to the downstream destination; control means operatively associated with the material delivery means to selectively deliver a pre-determined rate of the material to a separator to engage the airstream to concentrate the material in a portion of the airstream, the separator being positioned within the conduit upstream of the material delivery means; air distribution means in constant fluid communication with the separator and the material delivery means to control airflow to the material delivery means.

Agricultural machine for dispensing material to be distributed and metering element for said agricultural machine

An agricultural machine for dispensing material to be distributed, which agricultural machine comprises at least one metering element having a metering roller for metering the material to be distributed mounted in a metering housing and is rotatably driven. The metering roller has a plurality of metering wheel segments, each metering wheel segment of the metering roller is assigned a separate drive to drive the metering wheel segments independently of each other to ensure exact metering of the material to be distributed within finely subdivided partial widths of the agricultural machine. The drives of the metering wheel segments of the metering roller are arranged in the interior thereof, for example within a tubular hollow body, on which the metering wheel segments are mounted, such that the drives are ideally accommodated with protection from external influences and in a space-saving manner.

Agricultural machine section control

A computer-implemented method of controlling a mobile agricultural machine includes receiving field map data representing a first agricultural operation performed on a field, receiving a location sensor signal indicative of a sensed geographic location of the mobile agricultural machine on the field, the mobile agricultural machine having a plurality of sections that are independently controllable to perform a second agricultural operation on the field that is different than the first agricultural operation, and generating a control signal to control the plurality of sections based on the field map data and the location sensor signal.

RESEARCH PLOT SEEDER WITH PLANTING UNITS CONTROLLED TO TRIP AT DIFFERENT TIMES TO CREATE ALIGNED ALLEYWAYS
20210337720 · 2021-11-04 · ·

An agricultural seeder (10) for research plots includes a front gang (21) of planting units (22) and a rear gang (23) of planting units (24) spaced a distance behind the front gang. Metering systems (14) are provided for metering seed to the planting units (22, 24) of the front and rear gangs (21, 23). A tripping system (27) is used to start and stop the seed metering systems (14) and to change seed between plots while planting. A programmable logic controller (28) is programmed with the distance between the front and rear gangs (21, 23) and is used to delay the tripping of the metering system (26) for the rear gang (23) relative to the metering system (25) for the front gang (21) until the seeder (10) has traveled the distance (L) between the front and rear gangs (21, 23). The delayed tripping for the rear gang (23) keeps the planted rows and alleyways created by the front gang planting units (22) laterally aligned with those created by the rear gang planting units (24).
