An autonomous electric mower for mowing a lawn comprises a frame, drive wheels, cutting deck, computer, a Lidar sensor, at least one color and depth sensing camera. The computer is programmed and operable to: determine the location of the mower; detect obstacles; and to instruct the mower to avoid the obstacles. Advantageously, the system is operable to analyze the data from the multiple sensors and to instruct the mower to continue to safely operate and cut the lawn despite one or more of the sensors being obstructed. Novel route planning methods are also described.

The motor rotates the cutter-spindle assembly to move cutting strands extending therefrom through a cutting path with sufficient rotational velocity to cut vegetation. The cutter-spindle assembly includes a spool and a strand-feed mechanism. The spool is oriented to rotate about a horizontal axis. The strand-feed mechanism includes a solenoid actuated plunger within a shaft of the cutter-spindle assembly. The plunger engages the spool to control rotation of the spool and thereby feeding out of incremental lengths of the strand.

GROUND-CONTOUR-FOLLOWING AUTONOMOUS OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE MOWER FOR HILLSIDE ORCHARDS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

The present invention provides a ground-contour-following autonomous obstacle avoidance mower for hillside orchards and a control method thereof. Through cooperation of a push rod motor and a rotating pair, multi-angle cutting is achieved, and energy consumption needed by mowing operation is reduced. A connecting rod is arranged and forms a flexible mechanism together with an upper base bearing, a lower base bearing and a base-connecting unthreaded shaft. The flexible mechanism interacts with the push rod motor to achieve ground contour following operation, so that the mower as a whole can conduct ground-contour-following mowing operation on a complex orchard terrain, with a better cutting effect than that of a traditional mower. The use of a right-angle bypassing obstacle avoidance mode realizes precise obstacle avoidance of the mower, and achieves the operation purpose of not excessively relying on operators.
