20230232887 · 2023-07-27 ·

A method and apparatus are provided for processing plant material to remove leaves from a plant stalk. The apparatus comprises a conveyor for transporting a plant with leaves hanging down from the stalk; and a defoliator mechanism having two opposing surfaces, the opposing surfaces being movable between (i) a disengaged position for receiving leaves hanging down from the conveyor, and (ii) an engaged position in which the opposing surfaces are configured to grip leaves received by the defoliator mechanism; wherein the opposed surfaces act in the engaged position to apply a force on the gripped leaves to separate them from the stalk.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR STRIPPING LEAVES AND OR FLOWERS FROM A STALK

The invention relates to a method for stripping leaves and/or flowers from a stalk (1), in particular for stripping cannabis leaves and/or cannabis flowers from a stalk (1). Thereby, a loop (2) is formed around the stalk (1) to be stripped, which is formed at least in a partial area from flexurally elastic or flexurally slack loop means (3, 3a, 3b) which have tensile strength in the direction of the loop. The stalk (1) is then pulled through the loop (2) in the longitudinal direction of the stalk, with the leaves and/or flowers being stripped from the stalk (1). The invention makes it possible to strip the leaves or flowers, respectively, more easily and directly from the surface of the stalk (1), such that they can be substantially harvested better, faster and with less damage. Less preparatory work is also required.

The present invention relates to a method and system of conveying harvested material within or out of a combine harvester using positive air pressure. The invention provides for a lighter, simpler process of material handling by using positive air pressure to pneumatically convey harvested material. As compared to conventional methods, the present invention incorporates lighter weight components and fewer moving parts. Systems of the present invention have more flexible layouts than conventional methods, which allows for the incorporation of different material types, easier cleaning, and potentially greater ease for process automation.

CANNABIS HARVESTER AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME

Systems and methods for mechanical Cannabis harvesting which utilize a harvester having two counter-rotating rollers, each having a brush thereon, where the brushes serve to strip leaves and buds from the stalk of a standing Cannabis plant introduced to a harvesting space between them. The brushes transport the stripped leaves and buds to a series of conveyors that eventually deposit the leaves and buds in a hopper. The stripped stalk of the Cannabis plant may be left standing in the field to be cut down later, or may be knocked or cut down by the harvester.

Bucking machine with internal motor rollers

A bucking machine with internal motor rollers includes a frame and first and second rollers mounted on the frame. Each of the first and second rollers includes an internal housing inside the roller, and a motor is disposed inside the internal housing within each roller. Each motor is completely housed inside the roller such that external motors are not necessary to drive rotation of the rollers. Each motor roller is connected to a motor control via a cable that provides power and instructions to the motor. A stem on a plant is inserted into a bore in a debudding cone such that the stem is received between the first and second rollers and is pulled through the machine. As the stem is pulled through the machine between the first and second rollers the flower is separated from the stem by engagement with the debudding cone.

Modification of bacterial profile of tobacco

A method of modifying the content of certain bacteria in uncured tobacco material is provided, the method including contacting an uncured tobacco material with a treatment solution, wherein the treatment solution is selected from the group consisting of: (i) a solution comprising salt, sugar, or a combination thereof; (ii) a solution comprising one or more enzymes; and (iii) a solution comprising one or more probiotics, wherein said contacting provides a treated tobacco material having a reduced total bacterial content following harvest. Also provided is a method of reducing TSNA content, the method including growing a tobacco plant in soil treated with a chloride source; harvesting the tobacco plant; and curing the harvested tobacco plant to give a cured tobacco material, providing a treated, cured tobacco material having a TSNA content that is reduced as compared to a cured tobacco material that has been grown in soil not treated with a chloride source. Smoking articles and smokeless tobacco products including such treated tobacco materials are also provided.
